I was there.  I was checking out your yellow ZR-7S.  I used to have a 2000 ZR-7.  There was a large number of BMWs there.  My hands were frozen.  I need to get heated grips installed on the XC.

Weather dude's flat out lied-said 45 and sunny, more like 36 and no sun in
sight.
Had lunch at "P J Wheelihans" Pub at the Lehighton exit
of the Pa. turnpike, good food cheap!
Put a "Map Booger" on it for future
weary turnpike travelers, even though we avoid the PA turnpike like the plague.
Had a great 180mi. day, but never made Ephrata. See you in April?

I wanted to go but had to work.   Sad  Still too much storm damage to fix, we've been working nonstop since it hit.    It's getting hard to just keep track of what day it is.   Crazy

Hey, Doug! Good to meet you and thanks for the pic (you got my good side Thumbsup).
That was my first 'First Sunday'. I will definitely be there again next year.

Take care,

Rod

Here's that IBA'd FJR I was telling you guys about at breakfast. Think I shot this pic @ Ephrata in April 2009.

Hmmm. Well I guess if he rides to desolate places, it's justified. I'm not sure that I'm a fan of that design :-\

That FJR belongs to a fellow named John Ryan.  He rides more miles than ALL of us combined, doesn't own a car, doesn't have a pesky job to cut into riding time and has had a book written about him, it's titled "The Man Who Would Stop At Nothing" by Mellisa Holbrook Pierson.
I got to meet him at Ephrata a few years ago and I met his biographer at the last Hermy's Oktoberfest.  That giant black thing is the fuel tank, yeah, it holds a lot.

thanks for the info Dewey.  it does indeed look by that picture that the rider "would stop at nothing". sounds like there's some real substance there, and somebody is using their bike the way god intended.  i can't knock that.  i think i'd personally prefer something a little less top heavy, but if it works for him, it doesn't really matter what i think, does it?  i wonder how many miles are on that bike?

Last I heard it was something like 300 thousand but it was wrecked.  I don't know if he ever put it back together, he was riding his K75 after the FJR was wrecked.  You should read Melissa Pierson's book, this guy is the real-deal.

John was there in July.  If I recall correctly, he let go of that bike and started farkling a new FJR.  You might catch him at the Turkey Trot.

That's why I shot the pic when I saw the bike, not that I knew the details, but because it obviously was ridden by an IBR contestant or some other LD nutter, and I'm a nutter wannabe.  Smile  I'll have to source the book -- thanks.
