Just got the new tires on the bike scrubbed in.  Arrive in Sparta Thursday night to get in a full day of local riding Friday.  After ESTN continue on to WV for several days before turning back toward Atlanta.  So excited to get on the road. Banana

I, for one, am quite looking forward to an extra long weekend of twisty goodness and socializing. I just need to make sure that the fires at work are under control so that I can take five days off without too much guilt.

Nothing like time away from the office to show others how badly they need you.  Lol

Hey Folks,

Not sure what the room status is at the Alleghany Inn but I have a room reserved from Thursday night through Sunday morning.  A few of us have decided to hit the dragon and I won't be able to make this one.  So if anyone wants the room before I cancel it send me a PM.  When I cancel I can transfer it to your name and you can follow up at the Inn with your CC.

There are Mexican, Chinese, and Japanese restaurants to the south of the hotel on Rt. 21.  There's a nice looking coffee shop at the corner of 21 and 18.  None of these are really within walking distance. But, there is a Pizza and Sub shop located beside the hotel and it appears they serve breakfast in the mornings.

Based on the dinner menu, I think we need to avoid the Mexican, Chinese, Japanese places on the other nights anyhow.  Lol

The pizza place does serve breakfast. In 2010, we overwhelmed them for dinner that Friday night and then turned around and overwhelmed them 12 hours later for breakfast Saturday morning!  Lol

Doug, did you happen to notice if The Pines Restaurant was open just down the street (two or three blocks, maybe)? Dinner got mixed reviews among our group that Saturday night, but I remember the breakfast Sunday morning being pretty solid. (And I mean, really...you can't really screw up breakfast unless you're trying!)

Should have let them know you were coming back.  A smart manager would have come in early and called in extra help knowing there'd be a crowd.

Oh, they knew. They handled us with great ease. I meant "overwhelmed" in the sense that there wasn't a seat to be had in the place. The staff was very friendly and they make a strong pizza pie.  Thumbsup

I'll play it by ear Friday evening.  But, I am tempted to ride down to the Japanese place and have a nice sit-down followed by beers in the parking lot afterwards.

Oh hell, I may even get BK to go and eat it with beers in the parking lot.   Bigok

I try to get out on at least one road trip every year.  I chose the MotoGP at Indy this year and watching all those racers riding was like going to a strip club: I just wanted to get some for myself.  I probably won't be going back to the MotoGP next year (been there, done that) but sure wish I could join y'all for this year's ESTN.  Just not gonna work for me right now due to personal conflicts.  Sounds like y'all have picked the right location with enough good food in the area to keep everyone fed as well as some tasty roads.  Good ridin'!

Sounds good.  Scott & I - based on yesterday's discussion - hope to arrive Thursday night.

Dinner Friday depends on the day's ride.

Beers in the packing lot for sure.
