Time for a Spring clean-is steam cleaning any good?

The bike has been soaked with ACF-50 over winter, which seems to have done its job. Despite living outside, no obvious rust.

Time to degrease, wash and polish.  After the snow showers have stopped later this week.

Anybody know how effective steam cleaning is? Just wondering, as I happen to have one and the enginbe is going to be difficult (again) to clean up. That said, I did try to clean a Velocette engine with one back in the 80s and it wasn't very good...

Don't you Brits have do it yourself car washes?

You know, the kind with the hand held jet?

Spray the bike with some Eco-De-greaser have a smoke then spray it all away.

I have a power spray. Just asking about steam cleaning.

I would use neither a power washer nor steam cleaning (which, to answer your question, can be very effective).

To use the least amount of steam possible (and time), degrease the lil dear with yer standard routine -- steam cleaner WILL remove grease and chain lube and the like, but not as quickly ans the other spooge on the bike . . . . . . .

Disassemble the bike, put the parts in individual felt bags and run them through the dishwasher on the pots and pans setting. Reassemble.

Bad idea.  The pressure defeats component seals designed to stay dry in rain.  Bearings and electrics will suffer.  Sure, you see guys blasting grungy dirt bikes, but they are rather simple compared to modern FI and electric laden sport bikes and the like.
