It's the luck of the draw.  When I was active in the Porsche club before I switched back to bikes, we had a guy get a 2 year old 911 that had issue after issue.  It just happens.  Others had 10 year old 944's that ran better then new.

Bought my 04 futura last Spring with 27K on her from the original owner and he had gone over her "weak links" with beautiful attention to detail and added everything from ohlins to paint protector. She has 43K on her now and has had zero problems. I also had a 06 Triumph ST that I put 23K on and it was also a zero problem bike. I like the 3 motor, but am a twin fan in general and the futura gets the nod for me. The availability of parts and service are a valid concern, but the ape is still very competitive.

BTW, bum deal on the bearing and those prices are crazy, that should still be a $150.00 bearing and not any where near that gouging.

A 2 year old Porsche should still have a warranty. And a dealer to take it to. And Porsche will sell parts to that dealer, and most if not all of those parts should be available in the US
