Believe it or not you can!
For an example I could start off here in NC ride to another lake in SC - then head to Mytle Beach and to GA and Fla then back.
Just like bikes there are groups with PWC that travel rivers-lakes-etc and make a week out of it- pretty cool just different:)
I will always love the vfrs and blackbirds and if it sells or not no big deal- still better mpg then my truck or car:)
