Even better, they eat cats.
They are really majestic when they swoop down and latch onto a cat.....nature is sometimes wonderful.

My buddy had an Owl living in a tree behind his house. One day, he watched as the owl swooped down and carried off his mini dashund. Couple days later, ther was no owl living behind his house.
So a revenge killing on something that's just carrying out it's natural instincts.
Yeah, that's cool.

Way cool. We found a Great Horned owl that had been shot. We kept it in a corn crib and fed it dead ducks (my uncle has a farm) for a couple weeks. It recovered well enough and we let it go. It was pretty cool. HUGE talons.

Good on ya for helping the owl.
As for how they tell if an owl has brain damage? That's easy, instead of going "Hoo! Hoo!" they go "FJR's are fat heavy pigs!"

OH. SNAP.
Barred Owls are one of my favorite owls (Eastern Screech Owls being the other). Barreds have a distinctive, "who-who-who-who...who-cooks-for-you" call that is awesome to hear at night either in the woods camping, or even sometimes on our back deck!

So he knew there was an owl there. And yet let his little dog run around.

OK haters- He WATCHED the owl take his dog. They were sitting on the porch and it happened right in front of him. I never said he killed the owl. The owl was found dead, taken to the proper authorities and returned to him with no suspicion. The taxidermist had all the proper paperwork.
Best we could figure is the little dog got his revenge from the inside.
I think Owls are stunning birds. If i found one dead, I would certainly have it on display in my house.

If I had an owl in the back yard preventing me from having my pets play in the yard, that owl would somehow be relocated, whether in a box or otherwise. Sure I'd try to capture it or tranquilize it first, but somehow, it would be gone. Sorry, not keeping my dog inside simply because of the reign of a majestic bird in my tree.
