Plus, nothing that little is a dog. That's really the heart of the matter, here.  

I would tend to agree.  Our two dogs look like black wolves so they get cool points just for that.  Plus they're the right size.  Both are incredibly sweet natured dogs.  However, Twister absolutely abhores little tiny dogs, especially the fuzzy white variety.  He has trouble understanding why, what would ordinarily be a chew toy, is out running around without being thrown and making noise without being chewed on.  

For the record, we have hawks and owls in our yard on occasion.  We just recently started letting the cat out back since we got a new fence.  We are fully aware that he's food and we supervise his outside time for that very reason.

My wife protects the barn cats from the hawks (and the rare bald eagle).  She likes to feed the song birds.

If I had an owl in the back yard preventing me from having my pets play in the yard, that owl would somehow be relocated, whether in a box or otherwise. Sure I'd try to capture it or tranquilize it first, but somehow, it would be gone.  Sorry, not keeping my dog inside simply because of the reign of a majestic bird in my tree.

Have you considered moving to an area more to your liking?

I'll contact my friend on Monday. He said it could take several weeks of care for the bruising on the brain to be reduced. Hell look around here. I have known many of you for several years and I'm convinced the bruising on your brains will never be relieved.

Yeah when we let the cats out we have to keep an eye on the redtails. They are everywhere in my area and always hunting the rabbits just on the other side of my property line.

There are a disburbing number of people who have no concept of the food chain.  They heard it in grade school and that's the last time.  Those same people grow up, visit places where they, or a member of their party, are not on the top of the food chain and wonder why this happens.

See Grizzly Man...and chic in alaska eaten by wolves...and so on and so forth.  I don't wanna see anyone's beloved pet get eaten but c'mon.  Rules are rules.

Well exactly.  There are easily found videos on the net of eagles hauling goats off cliffs to kill them and hunters using Golden Eagles to hunt wolves.  Obviously they're much bigger than the typical owl but it illustrates how intelligent, powerful and dangerous raptors can be.  

A yappy, tiny lapdog with all the defence mechanisms of a Chicken McNugget isn't even an hors d'oeuvre for a hungry bird of prey!

... with roughly 1500psi of grasping pressure and a ratcheting thing that locks them closed. You don't wanna get latched onto by an owl if you can avoid it.  

BTDT, but it was the Great Horned Owl I referred to earlier and it was through a winter coat.  They left quite the puncture wounds in my hand!

One year, for my daughter's birthday, we had a themed party, where the Maryland DNR came and talked with the kids about various native animals.  They had a large black snake that the kids got to hold and pet and a Barred owl that couldn't be returned to wild.  It was magnificent and the kids could pet it.  Totally calm with the kids.

The DNR person went on to talk about owls.  Her bottom line: Owls are the baddest bird in the forest.   Apparently they will take on and usually beat virtually all the raptors native to Maryland. (ie take their food from them or eat them ).

And for the record, she didn't classify owls with raptors.
