I spoke to the F+W friend of mine today.

He says the bird is improving but not with ant great speed. He says this is a common injury for an owl (apparently they bounce off of windshields a lot while getting breakfast) sometimes these are quick heals sometimes not at all. I'm told that our owl is right in the middle of this spectrum.

I will check back on Thursday.

Sounds like he's possibly headed for a life in a protected sactuary, shown for educational purposes etc. etc.

If so, he'll have a good life, albeit in captivity. An animal that's brain-compromised doesn't stand a chance for survival in the wild.

Here's to hoping for a full recovery for the bird.  Beerchug

Why is that?? I'm sure there's a bird sanctuary somewhere that would take him.

Well, yeah obviously if the poor thing is in that bad of a shape.

I was thinking more along the lines of being able to eat + basic functions, but just messed up to the point where he wouldn't
stand much of a chance in the wild.

I checked today. You beat me to it.

He continues to slowly improve, he's eating more on his own and it looks (cautiously saying) that he will be able to be re released into his home area.

You and Mr. Owl deserve a pat on the back.   Thumbsup

Did you happen to ask him how many licks it takes to get to the chocolate center of a Tootsie Pop?

I think you should kill it after it recovers and heals, then post lots of pictures.
