First of all I have no clue what to ask for the Macbook.

It's a 1.83 GHz Intel Core Duo, 2 GB Ram, Clean with a few scratches on it.

The headphone jack is the only thing that doesn't work on it and the battery is getting weak.

It would include a decent neoprene case and an OS-X disc.

I was looking at this.

2 different target audiences. Tablets are for only the lightest of content creation. If you're going to do more than light e-mail and web surfing, then you'll need a blue tooth keyboard. By the time you start lugging around the extras you might as well get a laptop of some sort.

My pops just bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 to replace a netbook.  I set up the WIFI for him, I thought the device was pretty cool...

Take a look at some of the new Ultrabooks that are coming.  Some are basically a laptop and a tablet (touchscreen).  I know some of the guys that worked on the reference design.  couch

You can probably get one for the price of an iPad. Shrug

I'm looking at the Acer for the lower price than an iPad.

Quite honestly, I am tired of having everything Apple.

As a counterpoint, for me, the Apple user experience sucks, because I haven't bought into the infrastructure (no iTunes library, no apps).  Coming in cold, there's a whole fucking lot of hoops to jump through that you don't need to with an Android device.

I'm quite happy with my Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 LTE.  The size is perfect for me, the application experience is just fine for what I need (great browsing, media consumption, the ability to use it as USB storage).  I don't need a fancy Twitter app, or a band in my garage, etc.

I also really appreciate the tight integration with my Google accounts (work and personal), and the ability to use non-Apple applications for music, movies, ebooks, and even browsers.  Of course desktop widgets do not suck.

And yeah, I like having Flash support. Smile

If you want a fairly unbiased opinion, having owned an iPad and looking VERY hard at a selection of Android tablets, I always find myself thinking "This user experience kinda sucks" on the 'droid tablets. Maybe that's because I got the king mac daddy of tablets as my first one and the bar is set pretty high, but honestly, I haven't played with one yet that I'd toss my money at, and honestly, they're just not *that* much less expensive... at least not for the one you *really* want. Shrug

$.02

I feel the opposite. Having an older 7" G-Tab and a new 10.1 G-Tab, I always feel like it just works and the UI is intuitive. I always hated how Apple makes you do everything with that one stupid button. It seems like I cant get to where I want to with Apple products.

My toys are paid for by my job and I can buy whatever I want, I really like the Samsung experience. I think it comes down to more of what you've become accustomed to then whats better.

eBay...

Perform a search for your product but click "Advanced Search" and check / enable the "Completed Auctions / Sales" function (I think you need to log in to eBay to get this feature). THEN, in the search results, scan for a unit that closely matches yours and see what price it fetched.

I just bought a tablet - haven't recieved it yet.
Because it's my first tablet and I'm not sure how I'm going to end up using it, I wanted versitile and upgradeable. After quite a bit of research, I got a ViewSonic G Tablet (10")
It's got; MANY ROMs avail - including the OEM if I ever want to go back to 'stock'
micro-SD expansion
USB - mini and regular (one is a slave)
Capacitive(sp?) screen
Flash

techforless.com has factory refurbished and new-open-box (which is what I got) at good prices.

You'll regret that Viewsonic.  Worst display ever...it's a cheap netbook display, bad viewing angles which sucks for a tablet that's always changing orientation and how you're holding it.  And it's just shit, build quality wise.   Plus it's powered by a Tegra 2, which also sucks.

Bought one in 2010, took it back in a week.  That said, it cost $400 back then...at $100 bucks or so it might be a little better deal.

We have an iPad  (well my g/f does  Lol) with one of those bluetooth keyboard/case combos. All told is just as big as most laptops, and far less functional. Really depends on why you need in the end. If I just wanted I big smart phone to carry around to check my email, then the iPod is fine for that. But my android phone does the same for a lot less real estate. If you actually need to "compute" then get one of those new ultrabooks. An iPad != a computer.

Not sure what your price range is, but given that you own a macbook... you should look into the ASUS Transformer Prime. No real need to even get the keyboard attachment. The tablet on its own is probably the best thing on the market now.

Before you buy an Acer or a Samsung, check out ASUS.

If I could trade my transformer for an ipad 3, I'd tell the person offering the deal to get lost.

Yeah the Transformer is probably the best productive tablet out there right now.
