They haven't used Road Atlanta in quite awhile.

I went way back in 2001 and had a great time despite the thunderstorm and sticky red mud.

There was a three year gap ('95-'97) for AMA but from '98 on they ran there until last year (like Dogboy said). Good to have them back for this year though !!

I'll be there, I used to camp at the track, but if it rains the red clay gets into everything, the bathrooms aren't that clean and yes, I'm getting older.
I found a good deal on a room over in Athens GA. about 30 miles from track. It's the Best Western near the University of GA and all the bars and nightlife that come in a college town. $55.00 per night + tax, the Best Western in Braselton is a S*#t Hole and they want $89.00 + tax.

Let me know if you guys are going out for Brews in Athens and I'll  join you.
I'm hooking up with Friends from Mariettta for the race, they are arriving by truck with awning, chairs & cooler, but they won't be accompaning me to Athens.

For those that are gonna be at the track during the weekend, stop by the motodog compound and sit for a spell if you like. We'll be on the outside of turn 10 in the former gravity cavity. Look for an olive green pop-up with a kinda funky looking dome like top. I'll be back and forth between there and the paddock doing some media stuff but I plan on watching the races from the compound. Hope to see some of you there !!

Also: I might end up with an extra ticket or two (3 day passes) so if interested in a deal shoot me a pm...

The weather report for the weekend looks quite rainy as of today. At first I was disappointed but then I thought about how cool racing in the wet is.  Thumbsup

I'm almost definitely coming through Saturday.  Bigok

AMA (DMG) doesnt' race in the rain at all tracks, only ones deemed safe to ride in the rain. Does anyone know if they'll race in the rain at Road Atlanta? I bet they won't, I'm going anyway. Can't let the weatherman dictate when and where I ride.

My plan, for now, is to be there tomorrow. We shall see. I do not mind some rain, but I have been to RA when it was a mud-fest and it is NOT fun.
