Sanford, FL police bikes
«
on:
March 29, 2012, 03:43:54 PM »
With all footage of George Zimmerman walking into Sanford, FL PD, did anyone else notice their garage full of sport-touring motorcycles? Initially I thought it was a POV. But with more footage being shown, it's clear there were a few of the same model: Kawi Concours 14.

In my area (DC/MD/VA), they only ride HD's I believe.

In Houston, Harris County police ride white Goldwings (among others). I saw a motorcop wheel one around the other day - great slow speed control, as expected.

Those do make a pretty awesome police bike. Maybe a replacement for the RT-P somewhere down the line.

They're not crash bars? I'm feeling slow tonight, so I'm not sure if you were setting up for a punch line.

I assume they make it easier to pickup the bike when practicing tiny circles at slow speed...

Can't see the pic here. Was it the "before" or "after" he wrecked it shot?

At the Dallas IMS they said they were up to 10 busa's. My little town just picked up some Kawasaki's. The pic I was sent shows a ZX10 with a couple ZX14s in the background! Welcome to Edmond, America!

Part of the motor operator course is dumping the bike for a foot pursuit. The oversized bars keep it somewhat upright so the fluids don't leak out. So yes, kind of crash bars, but meant for intentionally dropping it instead of stopping it and using the kick stand.
