I've had a Pinterest account for a while (and followed the site's meteoric rise) but never really done anything with it. So for fun (and as a kind of experiment), I went through a thousand of my riding photos over the past few years and pulled 60+ of the best ones, then added them all to a Pinterest board called "Roads of My Dreams" (because these are all places and scenes I dream of all the time). Here's the link if anyone wants to check it out...

Ultimately, I think Pinterest fails as a photo gallery. I was irritated to see that it shrunk all my pics down to a small size, even though my original uploaded pics were 1280x960. (And even stranger is that it displays vertical/portrait-oriented shots at a larger size.) Still, Pinterest has the same advantages of Facebook, Flickr, etc: it has a vast audience...so the potential for more people to see my pics is greater there than if I'd just created my own photo gallery.

Great pics, I love me some West-By-God-Virginia.

Expect Pinterest to implode over copyright issues though. Ever read their terms?

No, haven't read the terms...but I've heard a LOT of rumbling over copyright issues. A good article I read recently supposed that Pinterest will be left alone...until they attempt to start making serious money from the site (which is inevitable). That's when they'll get slapped hard for copyright issues.

People say "It's just like scrapbooking," but it isn't---you can't make unlimited perfect digital copies of that photo you printed, cut out with frilly scissors, and pasted into a book with glitter-pen writing all around it.  Smile
