Moto Morini is being resuscitated back to life.  Their one new model is called the Rebello 1200.  It appears to be a naked-bike based on the same engine as the Gran Passo, which was their new Adventure bike from just before the old MM was closed.

What I find interesting is that there is a push-button electric slider that moves the rear seat hump forward or backward to reveal or hide the pillion seat.

FF to 0:35 of the embedded video below to see it.

Sort of a quirky idea, but it makes you wonder why no one has done this before, electrified or not.

Didn't I see something like this on a 1983ish Honda Silverwing?

AFAIK that was a lockable box in place of the pillion seat....

From wiki, ". The 1981 model had a small tail trunk, which was replaced by a larger trunk in 1982. The trunk was interchangeable with the back seat—the bike is rider-only with the trunk installed, although there was an aftermarket extender available to allow the trunk to be mounted behind the passenger seat."

I don't get the whole "bob the seat so my back tire hangs out a foot past the fender" look.

Different strokes I guess.

+ 1
I'd MUCH rather have a bit of underseat storage; even just enough for a couple fuses and bulbs..  but.. I do RIDE my bikes...  I realize that's not always the case.

I do kinda like the bracketry this bike uses for the taillight/lisc better than the typical 'hunk-o-plastic' that most bikes use.
But... why bother lowering the turn signals from the taillight??

That was my first impression as well.

Now if only this electronic slider was positioned between the rider and pillion, you could eject bad passengers at the flip of a switch!

I'd be having to much fun to even think of a passenger.

Needless electrical complication. But I guess if you were the passenger and you felt it shoving you forward, it means the rider likes you.   Razz

It helps fling water all over the back of you and the bike in the rain.

Move the tail section back and forth all you want. You still have the ugliest plate holder on a motorcycle today (amid some stiff competition).

Agreed.  I think the audience for these short bodies bikes won't ever see the rain.

Re Buell:

The RS1200 had a rear cowl that folded up and exposed a rear seat.  Not a sliding electric thingie, I know, but they had a convertible before moto moroni.

Interesting, thanks.  I have never seen that Buell.  That setup looks like a precursor to the Ulysses hinged setup.

It reminds me of the electrically adjustable windscreen on the FJR, how much does the bike weigh?
