Which is your favorite F'ing BMW?

The 800ST was for 6 months until the stalling started! When it became clear that the dealer could not fix the problem, I just parked it in my garage.

Old F650 thumper (the new G series), though I'm lusting after an Xmoto

I thought about it some more and voted the F650GS twin, though the G650GS came in second.  This was mostly for three reasons - a preference for cast wheels, highest mpg ratings on those two, and those are the only ones that run on regular gas instead of premium.  The rest of the group including the other thumpers are rated for premium gas according to the BMW site.  

Otherwise I have been interested in nearly all of these bikes at one point or another.  The F800R particularly has my interest as probably the best handling bike in the bunch, and on a different day I would have voted that way.  I'm sort of surprised at the relative lack of interest in these bikes here.

loving my F8GS.
runs just fine on mid-grade, gets 54 mpg avg commuting (up to 71mpg actual across 2 tanks of I-state riding), easy to manage, handles well, plenty of power, any road/any time.
what's not to love?

Are the motors on these bikes not made in Austria or China?
 Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the big four all make their own motors? (In Japan?)

(and no, not all of the Big 4 make all of their own motors in japan. some get outsourced to India, or elsewhere)

I voted for the F/G 650 GS.  It was the perfect gateway drug to get my wife hooked on the motorcycle obsession.

I like the F800GS.  

Me too!  Just not as much as the single.  The F800GS sounds so nice with the Akra exhaust too

Love my 800ST, but I voted for the F650ST.



From my first Saturday with it in 2005.

I have a 2005 F650GS service loaner in the garage this weekend.  This bike has a certain charm on a twisty back road.  It handles rather well in corners and is very easy to ride with good brakes.  But that charm is outweighed by lackluster engine performance and very disappointing finishes overall.  Cross that off my list.

I voted for the F650ST since I didn't see an option to pick the regular Funduro.

This bike fit me like a glove, and outside of the fact that it only seemed to have a "happy zone" of about 1,000rpm (which meant I was shifting constantly), I really, really miss it.
