MX tracks have changed a lot since I last raced (early 70's). Too much focus on jumps IMHO.
Notice the lack of air.
Love the beaners though.

I agree. Stadium Cross is something I don't even watch. The Lucus Oil sponsored series is better, but some races still have riders airborn more than I care for. Last weekends race in MInnesota had 2 long sets of woops, which I found pretty entertaining.

Am I the only one on here old enough to remember when we called the 4 stroke dirt bikes "Diesels"?

They will be making a comeback soon in OR (never really went away in some). Husky is making a 300, direct injection, low emissions, high MPG DS bike that we will see in 2014 probably. Snomobile tech has kept up and will be used on bikes including autolube!!! No more mixing! Good news except that I would prefer that Japanese companies were doing this first.
Remember that the AMA/FIM had to make a 4 stroke NEARLY TWICE AS BIG to get the same performance as a 250 2 stk! The love affair with 4 stroke crossers is quickly over when they break their cam chain or drop that valve in the hole.
If we can get away from the tailpipe emissions on a 2stk then we will learn to love them again.Maybe the tree huggers will think they are OK if they don't smoke. And according to early tests, they make great torque and HP and the motor even can weigh less!

Anyone who has ever ridden a KTM 300 knows how well a 2-stroke can work for all around use. Injection and clean emissions would make it damn near perfect!

Funny, I dreamed about riding a 250 2 stroke last night. It was very nice, although I never really got it into the power band.

I've been rebuilding a 1986 KX125.
After test-riding it, I suddenly decided I really want the rumored up-and-coming Husqvarna two-stroke direct inject dual sport.
