I betcha you could make a good living catching and disposing of these bastards down there, and putting the meat and hides to good use.
I'm betting you've never been to the Everglades. It doesn't really matter. They'll be choked off by development in the next 20-30 years. I haven't seen any pics of a python swallowing a backhoe, grader, bulldozer, etc. When that happens they'll migrate into the farming areas and cause havoc with the agricultural industry. When that happens, watch out. Monsanto 1: Pythons 0.

The everglades are protected, aren't they?
The problem is catching these snakes. They aren't fast, but they are nearly invisible in the wild.

And if you do "catch" one that size, you may shortly realize that it has wrapped itself around you and is nonchalantly snapping your ribs one at a time...

That's what big Ghurka knives are made for dude. And .22 pistols. I'd have big snake fillet in a couple seconds.
You think I'd go in the Everglades without either? Probably take a .45 too for good luck.
I'd probably make a pair of boots out of the first one.

Clay's right. They are extremely well camouflaged and hard to spot like any good snake is.
I dunno, I don't live there but I do think invasive species are a problem. Like the Asian Snakehead. They say big ass snakeheads are being caught all over the place.

The next sound that you hear will be the scream when that snake takes a dump. Extruding that hide is going to hurt...

My snake eats whole rats. It dissolves everything- it's feces look like a oblong ball of plaster.

There's a reality show on one of the cable channels called Python Hunters. Don't know how much the blokes are making off of catching the snakes; but they're probably raking in a tidy sum from the cable network.
