...at the corner of N. Avenue & Peachtree Street. Good step for motorcycle awareness. And in case you haven't heard, May is 'Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month'. http://ow.ly/i/BhvZhttp://www.nhtsa.gov/Safety/Motorcycles

Caltrans has electronic billboards on the CA interstates that flash "Watch for Motorcycles" in rotation with other public service messages.

Hmm, interesting. But like those "Slower Traffic Keep Right" signs, I doubt they'll be noticed much.

Texas does the same and has been for a while. No stand alone signs though except for in the Hill Country.

Same effect but different from a standard road sign. Anyway, every little bit hopefully helps...

I'll continue to try to position myself where I can't be run over. Those signs, while a nice idea, are useless.
Useless Frenchy ?? I'm sure you've conducted an indepth study to arrive at your conclusion ?? Might not make a huge difference but if only one life is saved because of them I'd say they are well worthwhile... saw my first local one about 2 or 3 years ago.
Maybe the article meant to say first in 'County' not 'Country'... Anyway, first metal road sign I've seen like it but hey, I do live in the South afterall

I've never understood this argument. It's an argument used for a whole lot of silly stuff that costs a lot of money and generally saves no lives to very few lives. Human life does infact have a value and if saves no lives and they spend millions what good was it. If it saves 2 lives and they spend millions was it worth it? Will those 2 people who were saved make those millions or pay those millions in taxes in their lifetime? Don't get me wrong there are good things that happen that saves lots of lives and costs money but there are limits in my mind on how much we are willing to spend to save "even one life".

I guess that might depend on if one of those two lives are you or a loved one.

Agree completely. It's a terrible argument to make. Like those that have been pushing smart technology handguns that have yet to reach 100% reliability. But if it saves one life..... If it fails and costs you yours too bad. I also did a TDY to Ft. Worth NAS back in 1999 or 2000. I loved Texas and tried to go every chance I got.

While I certainly agree that the dollars per life argument is a lil silly . . . . it often seems to be used to counter things that simply make good sense (like the motorcycle signs).
If any state is in a position that the expense of the signs is greatly damaging their fiscal health, of cours they shoudl stop with the signs.
It only takes one rider being killed through inattention that is close to you to put a different spin on this .. . .
