East TN and Western NC, best riding in the US

Ok, I've been riding all winter, since we really didn't have one
, but the season is in full swing and it's time for a get together in Eastern TN/Western NC. I was at Bike Night at the Wedge this Wedneday, good bike turn out, it was my first bike night there. I didn't see any of the Asheville STN riders there.
Since Matt told me about the Wedge it's become a favorite destination of mine. Matt, we need to get together for a ride.
I'm home this weekend, as last weekend I was at the MSTA rally in Helen GA, and the weekend before that at the AMA Races at Road Atlanta.
On May the 12 Ohlins is having an open house at it's facility in Hendersonville, NC. I'm riding over for that event, who else is going?

Wedge is wonderful... I haven't been there in a few months though...
Since my company/office is heading up a team for some work for the City around the New Belgium site, I've been doing research on the different NBB beers (other than Fat Tire). Having a Trippel right now. Favorite is a toss up between Somersault and 1554.
I missed Road Atlanta and couldn't make Helen either. BentAero went... The weather has been sooooooo good the past few weekends.
Next weekend I'm heading down to Barber with WERA so I'm going to miss the Ohlins open house also (and miss most of Mother's Day).
Y'all have fun. Sometime after that is good for a ride and eat.

New Belgium site? I'd heard that Sierra Nevada was building a brewery in Asheville, but had not heard that New Belgium was also. Asheville is really becoming a major brewery Town. I'm a big fan of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, but all winter I was drinking New Belgium Snow Day winter ale. It's gone now, so I'm back on the Sierra Nevada.
I saw Bent Arrow down in Helen, he was nice enough to point out that my chain was toast
. I've ordered and received a new chain, and sprockets are on order through Ducati $
.
While down in Helen we were drinking local Atlanta brew from Sweetwater, the 420 and IPA.
Are you racing with WERA, or just spectating?

Fred,
I'm not sure we have ridden together or not, got old timer's
I was in Helen too, but rode Thur/Fri and left on Sat. I do remember riding with Matt on several occasions, as well as Gary.
As far as the Subject line goes, when you combine our weather with the roads you do have a point. I'm starting to lean toward a lot of roads in N.Ga as well, but my favorites are in WV and W. VA. Sure would like to get a chance to run some of those CA roads sometime.

Sierra Nevada is doing a typical 'nuke a forest' type developmment near the airport just over the County line in Henderson County. New Belgium announced their east coast operations selection of Asheville and they are going to take on a Brownfields site in the River Arts District in Asheville - the site is the Livestock Yard on the French Broad River across from Wedge/12 Bones. NBB is a really neat company.
I'm going to be racing at Barber. If it were Little Tally or something like that I would skip it, but Barber is so neat it can't be passed up. BentAero and I were down there about 6 or 8 weeks ago for a track day. Soooooo nice.

I'm a BIG fan of New Belgium, particularly Ranger, but often lean towards the local flavor also. Sweetwater/Red Brick. We were at Road Atlanta the other week too. Great racing! Give a shout if you all want some riding company, we're up in N.GA, E.TN and W.NC just about every weekend.

Fred, I may be able to get away. What time do you plan on leaving? I'm in Kingsport, so I could meet up with someplace south of here depending on the route you want to take.

FalcoFred, are you going to STAR in Colorado?
Anybody up for Wedge on Wednesday? Or anything else?
There will be a cafe racer show at Altamont Brewery in west Asheville on Saturday:
http://www.altamontbrewingcompany.com/
http://www.roadracingworld.com/news/article/?article=48678
Proceeds go to the Airfence Fund.
And one more plug - I've started trying to stick events and 'stuff' on a Facebook page for motorcycling in WNC.

Matt,
No I'm not going to STAR in Avon this year, I would like to get over to the Wedge on Wednesday, but I've commited to changing a tire on a friends bike that evening.
Now that event at the Altamont Brewery sounds like a possibility. I may be on four wheels though.
I'm hoping the forks and shock that I dropped off at Cogent Dynamics in Fletcher for springs and service are ready to be picked up on Saturday. Maybe they'll be ready on Friday and I can pick them up then and ride the SuperDuke to the cafe racer show on Saturday.

Let me know when you line up going to Cogent. I've never been to Rick's place and would like to go if possible.

It's tough to dispute the subject line matter. I spent a few days last fall riding East TN, W NC, and GA. It was amazing.

Well how about this week? Can you make it over to the Wedge for bike night tonight? A co-worker/friend and I are getting off work a little early and riding over. Probably take 209 through Hot Springs to Trust and then 63 over to Asheville.
