Living/work in Den Haag....(The Hague)

Okay, so reaching out to the STN peeps for some local feedback. Seems that I have a line that might be moving the family to/nr the Hague. Timeframe is still TBD, but estimate late 2012. Have started googling and looking at places to live and there seems to be a broad range of options and prices. This has led to the start of a prioritized list of things we want.
Still difficult to break down online without any village or town names besides 'near the Hague'.
So thought I'd start here....
Location:
- not really 'city' people.
- have lived in apt while waiting for house on some land to complete.
- prefer a single house/country-house/farm-house.
- 2nd/3rd choices would be duplex (2 houses connected together) or semi-detached.
- garden/yard with parking for car and probably motorcycle.
Intrigued with proximity to ocean but not a top issue.
Secondary issue to 'where to live' comes what to ship, what to buy locally, especially related to cars and motorcycle.
Opportunity likely does not include shipping a car from here. Ideally looking at 1-3 yr lease. Buying is a possibility but don't yet know how US credit rating would follow us over there. Haven't yet found many links for leasing. Seems bigger in France than any where else. I think there they call it 'buy and buy-back'.
Motorcycle: Again, if I ship one it would either come at my expense or significantly impact our allowed weight and volume. So, whether to ship one I own here, or buy a nice used one locally. Currently need new gear following crash so given EU standards for gear, is it better to get here and ship or buy local?
Probably many many more questions. This all just started yesterday....

I wouldn't think shipping vehicles over would be economically rational. Sell what you've got here, buy different overseas. Gasoline prices will affect how and what you drive and ride in Europe. Think about tripling your local gas pricing in Europe. Same with furniture. In my albeit limited experience, housing is not as spacious for the general owner/renter as in the US and more costly to boot. You might think about short term renting a furnished apartment when you arrive, then seek more appropriate lodging when you settle in and get a feel for living there.

Been on vacation, but you can contact me with questions or help you need.
Dunno what budgets you have, but free standing house in that area will be very, very expensive.
