Not what you thought (and it is motorcycle related to boot).

Yesterday, I gave the bike it's yearly wash to remove the masses of bug splats (I would much rather ride than wash).  I always like to take a quick spin to blow the water out of the nooks and crannies after a wash.  This time, since I was rather hot, I did the ride sans gear (but with a helmet).  In my previous riding life, I never wore gear.  I was a t-shirt, jeans, no gloves type of rider.

I have to say that I really enjoyed the jeans and t-shirt with no gloves ride yesterday (only about five miles).  Would I go for a multi-hundred mile ride without gear?  No, but it did feel good to me.  I have to admit, there was guilt involved (if I happen to have an incident, I'm really gonna regret this type of guilt).

Did that ride make me ATGSOTT?

You make your choices and you pay your money. Life is inherently risky, so choose wisely and reasonably protect yourself, but it is your life to live as you see best fit.

I typically ride the 3 miles to the pub at the edge of town in jeans and a t-shirt, have a few beers and return home... maybe I should get a Harley Headscratch

I always wear full gear.  But have often wished I'm living in some Utopic world where there are no a-holes on the road who could crash into me.

I once rode my Harley to the local dealership to drop it off for a recall - apparently there was something wrong with the sidestand but I couldn't tell.
Anyway, as it was just about a mile away, I rode in my open face helmet, t shirt, jeans and Vans skate shoes.   I had my skateboard in my back pack as I was going to skate back home, and my helmet fit into the backpack.
It was one of those unusual early mornings where it was already 80 degrees out.
It took me a brief moment to get there.  But it felt fantastic.
So yeah, I get the appeal.  But do not usually do it as I know of the consequences if something bad happens.

p.s. it was hysterical seeing the look of the regular HD people when I dropped off the bike, grabbed my skateboard and took off.  It was like they saw an alien!

I confess to having ridden in Key West with just a bikini top, cargo pants, and sandals once.   Bigok It really did feel nice, though I certainly won't make a habit of it.

Once a summer I ride both bikes about 2 miles without a helmet so I can listen to how they operate as a base level of what I should be hearing.  At least with my Sprint, it is so much more mechanical sounding sans helmet...clickety clack left and right.

Not a huge fan, but I don't have wind protective glasses which would likely make it much more enjoyable.

It's a well known fact that Kilts are caused by post hippie stress syndrome. Next time, remember your meds.

Today, I took my dirt bike out to check the new cam chain tensioner, and was kind of scared the whole time, with no gear. Rolleyes

Last year I bought my first half helmet after about 30 years of riding.   Since my mesh pants have mysteriously shrunk  Bigsmile  I have started to wear just my jeans or work pants in the warming weather.  I can't ride without gloves though.  No gloves makes the bars feel weird (too small).

I guess I have mellowed somewhat on the gear thing.

There was a time when I would use my bike as a hair dryer. Yes I HAD hair and lots of it once upon a time. I'd ride along the causeway to the island I lived on in shorts. Just shorts.

I can dig it. Thumbsup

Yup! The driveway here is about 1/4 mile long and I've been known to ride down to the mailbox without gea,r in shorts, etc...
Feels great!
Dirty looks from SWMBO when I get back, and the berating I get from the rotten little kids makes it risky though.
