Was just looking at the Russel website.  Is it me, or does the seat look like it would hold a lot of water when riding in the rain?

I have put many miles on my Russel in the rain and have never had an issue with the seat holding rain.

Russell Day-Long...... an ode..... (with apologies to Dr Seuss).

In the heat, it's my seat.
In the rain, I feel no pain.
It's ugly a bit, but not when I sit.
When I ride, I have a happy backside.
Stock seat made my mood dank, now I ride tank-to-tank.
My riding buds think it's fugly, I tell them fuck off.  Wink

Well said.

I did my first long ride of the year this past weekend. Left Marietta Ohio and rode back to Sudbury Ontario (about 700 miles) with my buddy. He was riding a stock seat VFR, me, my FJR with the Russell.

I was ready to keep going. He wanted to ride directly to Emerg. Ya, my back hurt a bit (unused riding muscles..) but my ass was just fine.

Spend the money, make your ass happy.

That was my experience too. I know many swear by them, but I decided that instead of trying to make a bad seat better by sticking a bunch of hard wooden balls under my butt, I'd just get a good seat.

Go to any long distance rally and you'll see some beaded seats. You'll see lots more Russells and Mayers.

The beads have a clear cost advantage, though.

+1.  I have tried all others but nothing compares to the Russel day-long.

That's why I got one for my FZ1

Tried to make a Rick Mayer work....even two adjustments.  But, then bought a Russell and wish I had done it the first time.

I am very happy with my Rick Meyer. Especially since I got it on sale this winter for only $200 smackers...  But truely it is so nice I would easily have paid the full price of $400
