Down 5.5 pounds.. moving more and eating low carb & fat, high veggie and protein.. Almost recaptured a horsepower..  Lol

Woohoo!  Welcome to the thread.  First five is great.  What's your goal?

I'm up about 12 effective hp now.  It's like I bought a brand new motorcycle. Lol

Also, up 0.4 this week.  As my neighbor pointed out, "That's just a good poop away from being down for the week."

I got a little sidetracked for about a month or so, and picked up 5 lbs.

Back on the wagon again, down to 166, which is 1 pound more than my previous low point.

Whoops. At least now I have an exact handle on what it takes to lose, maintain, and gain, on a per day basis, averaged over time.

Well I managed to hold it down to 183 lbs. during my road trip romp across the North Coast.

We ate at Denny's and ordered oatmeal and eggs for breakfast.  During lunch and dinner we stuck to light salads.  There was also a day where we were in the middle of nowhere with no restaurants so we ate home made sandwiches.  It worked!   Coco's has this salad with grilled Salmon for a mere $8.95 and it was really good!  Amazing what you can find in the most unlikely places if you look closer.  Many of them are now offering "Lighter Side" sections in their menus.  Nice.   Thumbsup

I figure 1-2 lbs. up and down don't matter too much.  It's the trend that's important.

I also read in Men's Health magazine that you should weigh yourself every day or every 1-2 days.  It's a good way to compare reality to what you think is reality so you can make adjustments regularly.

Great job on holding the weight down.  That's really tough to do on vacation.

That's funny because WeightWatchers advises the exact opposite.  Maybe it's the target audience, since WW is mostly women.  I know I can gain a couple of pounds in water weight based on what time of the month it is.

Weighed in at 182.4 this morning. That's 73 pounds less than I was last summer and 153 pounds down from my heaviest (ten years ago).

I hit my original goal of 185 back in January of this year, so I've been maintaining pretty well.

I'd like to get down to 175, but these last few pounds are going to be tough...

I think the short blob in Men's Health regarding weighing yourself daily was mainly motivational.  If I remember correctly, the article said something to the effect of the daily weigh in is a "daily" reminder of all the hard work you've accomplished, all the trips to the Gym, time in the workout machines, etc., and to remind you NOT to stray.  I've been following this method and so far it has worked well for my mental attitude and focus.  It can be frustrating sometimes but I find frustration motivates me even more so.

I weigh in daily, but use Friday morning as my official weigh in time. I can almost trend how my week goes and how my weight fluctuates up and down depending on what I eat.

After a long weekend with lots of food and beer, I made out pretty well. I was 235 on Friday morning which was the 40lb mark. Sunday was up to 240! BBQ chicken, ribs, hot dogs, burgers. No wonder! This morning back down to 236 so a net gain of 1lb over the weekend.

I want to be solidly under 235 by next Tuesday when I return to the doctor for a followup visit. The last time he saw me I was 262.

I've got a nifty app on my iPhone that graphs my weight, so I weigh every morning first thing and plug the value into the app.

WeightWatchers eTools are pretty sweet too.  I've attached my weight record and a weekly progress report.  The weight record is a little weird becasue I didn't have eTools for the 1st 16 weeks.  That's why there's a big jump the 1st week.

you are all giving me the push I need to get to work on this, thanks!! I would like to be back around 205 (seems to be where I felt the best (if I can remember back that far?). Under 200 I felt a little weak? anyway I had made it up to 245 or so when I decided (new years) to work on it again. no soda, cut down on fast food, and exercise more (still not near enough). I dropped to 230 fairly fast, now I seem to be stuck??? thanks for the encouragement, I'm hoping for 205 by skiing season!!

the above opinion is simply that of an average middle aged hick with one too many brain injuries... or, don't take it too serious.

My butt is now back in the WeightWatchers' chair - went to my first meeting in a long while last week (174.4 lbs and 5' 5"). Veefer800canuck weighs less than I do.  Crazy

When you start tracking how much food you eat, it's enlightening. No wonder I'm overweight.

Your body is like The Borg.  It adopts to your lifestyle and tries always to conserve energy.  So you need to change up and "shock" your body into fat burn mode again.  Either increase the intensity (not time) of your workout or significantly reduce carb intake to near zero.  Don't do both unless you increase protein intake.

+1

A 25 lb drop by the winter will not be that tough at all.
