Nice report + photos.

Color in your photos is really nice. Camera??

Never been there.

Assateague is one of my favorite places in the world. I loves me a desolate and deserted beach.  Thumbsup

I save my AI visits for the 2nd or third week of September. If you're not getting chased off the island by a coastal tropical storm, it's usually golden and the mossies are at a minimum.

Note to any potential summer visitors, bring three cans of 30% DEET bug spray, a box of cheap cigars, and a mosquito headnet. The mosquitos there can be BRUTAL and they are bloodthirsty.
Biggest biting black flies I've ever seen too. These things will remove a chunk of skin.  Crazy

My camera is an old (now) Sony Cybershot DSC-T77.  It is perfect for my use.  I keep in in my tank bag and it's connected to a retractable cord that yanks it back if I drop it.  I can easily use it for one handed pictures.
