I find myself thinking about the bike much less often these days, but fantasizing about the ride almost constantly . . . . . lately, I've been dwelling on thoughts of the Trans America Trail . . . ..

If you guys are anything like me you seemingly find a different bike every day to lust after or that piques your interest. Of course, it changes daily so there’s this never ending list of bikes you’d love to try out or potentially own one day.  Lol So, what’s the flavor of the day? Why?

Thumbsup I keep eyeing old DR350's for sale on the interwebs and dreaming of doing the Trans America as well.

Recently saw one of these at Riders' Hill a few weeks ago.  Maybe in a few years when I see one in the resale market....

^ Primarily THIS.  I want this with that exhaust.  I'm saving up money now.  Ideally, I would love to be able to get this and keep my Adventure.

If that's not the case, and I can only afford to own one street bike, I may consider the Norge or Multistrada to replace the Adventure.  The new big Tiger would also be in the running.

To be honest, if I'm able to afford having two bikes, a Ural Patrol is a close second place to the Griso for completely different reasons.  My problem for both the Ural and the Guzzi is a lack of  local (i.e. w/in 5 hour drive) dealer.  I could get to a Triumph or Duc dealer w/in an hour from my house.

There's only 2 bikes I'd love to ride in their intended environment.

No matter how you slice it. Guzzis stir the soul. This one on a track would make me sell my granddaughters.

I was born in the dirt. I owned an XL500R for over 20 years. I also have a lot of seat time in the R80GS. This to me is the epitome of big dirt bikes.

I've sat on both. The MGS in '04 or '05 at the Dallas Motorcycle Show. It fit really really nice.

Soon, in less than a year, I will be adding a DR650 to the stable.

I'll have two pairs of wheels/tires.  Knobbies and SuperMoto.

I just want my KTM 530 to start every time I push the magic button today. I am day-dreaming about the day I can trust that otherwise great bike to be reliable. It's not a good feeling to be highly anxious (in a bad way) before heading on ride wondering what is going to F up today and cause me grief.

The Tiger Explorer currently has my eye as a versatile all-roads bike with some measure of two-up comfort (occasional day rides with the wife).

EDIT: Fail. Once we got into the gnarly single track, the bike started stalling and not wanting to re-start (but did, eventually, every time). Sigh. I bailed on the ride after less than an hour when we crossed a road. Didn't want to ruin a glorious day in the woods for the other guys. Great riding area with tons of single track and it was in exceptional shape (so I'm told). It was my first time there ever.

I don't believe I owned the bike long enough to really suffer from that issue.  I didn't realize how common this problem is and can't believe KTM doesn't have a quick fix for it.  Shame on KTM.

Buddy had one in high school - bought brand new.  What a bike.  Would buy one if I could find a decent one for cheap.

I keep finding myself being strangely drawn to this lately:

Something about a reasonably powerful twin in a package with sensible ergos just keeps pulling at me.
That, and just listen to the glorious noise these bikes make.  Inlove

I've got one of those in my garage.
Too bad it's a basket case and hasn't been run in 10+ years.
Who knew a Japanese limited edition motorcycle really was limited in numbers. Sad

I've been quite taken lately with the 'Dakar Meets Bol d'Or' looks of Icon's Magnificent Bastard. It almost makes me wish I had a longer, more dangerous commute. Burnout
