Decent road for riding?

We're planning our ride to Eureka Springs and are looking for a nice route between Chattanooga & Memphis.

The parts I have been on from Monteagle to Fayetteville are all 4 lane and pretty uneventful. Couldn't say about points west.

Decent for a HD.  The whole length west of Monteagle Mt. is fairly straight, at least to the TN river.  I've never been farther west on it.  The highway is being widened into 4 lanes, with several large chunks of it completed.  You will run into a few construction zones, but it won't slow you down.

Thanks for the info.  I'll grab a Delorme Atlas and find some better backroads.

Unless you want to visit Country, might I suggest you cross the Mississippi up around Dryersburg, TN. It will get you into the Ozarks faster. And that section of TN is better than the section down around Memphis. Not that either is great.

41 over Monteagle Mt, get around Nashville how best you see fit, pick up 70 to Camden then a mix of backroads into Dyersburg, TN. Much better to cross in Dyersburg. Avoid the pit of hell that is Memphis.
