Congrats to her (and you). Smile

There is some great riding up in your area.  As a matter of fact, I will be passing through this week from San Francisco on my way into NV and then south on 395.  Maybe I will see you two out there.

ps: Looking forward tp a bowl of chili at Reds 395!

Congratulations to her!  Welcome to the "Worry Club" to you!  I've been a member for 7 years now! My son got his motorbike license when he was 14 but at least in Germany they have a graduated license system.

Congrats to you and her.  Thumbsup Aside from a lack of gloves it looks like she's going about it the smart way (geared up). I assume she has gloves and just didn't put them on for the pic based on the rest of the gear she's wearing. Anyway, it's good to see a kid approaching riding in a responsible manner.  Thumbsup

My boys are 6 and 3(4 next month) so I have a long time to wait before I get a ridding buddy. My oldest did get his first taste of 2 wheels this weekend though. He rode my niece's electric scooter (think step through, not kick scooter). It was a hideous pink monstrocity but the smile on his face said that the color didn't dampen the experience for him.  Bigsmile I've been scouring craigslist ever since for a little dirtbike, much to his Mom's dismay   Lol .

On a side note, I'm not sure if you rode it much, but those ZX6's are _excellent_ street bikes. If it's sound, it's completely worth fixing up (suspension etc.) if she likes it. I had one of those and a contemporary VFR at the same time for a while, and I liked the Kaw better. I know...blasphemy.

(and I loved the VFR)

Thanks EVERYONE!  Yes, she has gloves and wore them (except when posing for the pictures).

I rode the bike and checked it out for her and believe it is in great condition.  It has risers and a touring screen which really makes it quite comfortable.  She's worked hard over the last few years and has been saving money diligently in anticipation of this - so it's all hers!  I was astounded that her insurance through Progressive is only $109 for the year!!   Cool

She is route planning some day rides already, and, who knows, maybe she'll ride with me up to the BBBBQ...  That sure would be fun!

Btw, one of my most memorable tours was with my son when he was about 20 years old.  I'm looking forward to some of those experiences with my daughter now   Smile

She took off on her bicycle at 2 (never had training wheels) and has ridden dirt bikes (jumped and crashed them too) since 8 or 10.  Most importantly, she took the MSF class at 15-1/2 as soon as she had her drivers permit.  She had the certificate for her MC endorsement before she was even old enough to get her drivers license.  The expression on the DMV guys face when she handed him the certificate and told him she wanted her MC endorsement on her license was priceless! LOL.

Congrats to her on the new bike.  Any trips planned for the summer?  My son (almost 22) and I have done some great trips to the Texas Hill Country and North Central Arkansas (where the great roads are).  Now planning a trip to Colorado in June.

I did the same with my son.  Dirt bikes, then MSF at 15.  His first street bike was Kawasaki Ninja 500, he now rides an Yamaha FZ1

It's great she started so early. My son did the same. At 14 he got is first 2 wheel license (restricted to 50cc) then at 16 he moved up to 125cc restricted then at 18 he was fully license.  In Germany he couldn't even get a license to drive a car till he was 18.

Awesome! My step-daughter is 2 years away from getting her license. I'm already dreading the driving lessons in my 5-speed Forester. But, at least once she starts driving, I can give her the Forester and justify a new WRX for me!

Seriously, I'm hoping either my wife or one of the kids eventually takes the MSF course and has a desire to ride. Enjoy!
