Sand Flume

I've been getting better at not crashing so i'm thinking of new ways to challenge myself. I found the most gnarly trail to date; it's a downhill roller coaster of deep sand.
Previously I had attempted to take this trail uphill but got bogged down in a hurry. Had I actually made it past where I had previously failed I would have had to turn around anyway (Not that I had any way of knowing this at the time).
This trail consisted of deep beach sand with sharp turns. An interesting combination...
The trail must have gone down for 3-4 miles. I can't imagine making it up this thing.
Having lived on LI my entire life I was surprised enough to stop and admire this spot for a few minutes. I did not know my flat sand bar island offered such steep terrain.
This spot was cool too.
The only crash of the day wasn't much of a crash. I was in the flume and the earth was even with my shoulders. I couldn't even fall down but did manage to bounce off the dirt walls a few times.
Later bitches.

Thats ten times the average for a
Dirt Lovers
thread. I was hoping there would some dead bodies or at least an abandoned car up there.

4 of them have been mine.
I was gonna comment, that area looks a lot like Deep East Texas Piney Woods where I learned to ride. Not quite as much elevation changes but sandy as all get out.

I keep re-looking at this post to get its numbers up. (insert random deity here) knows the dirt threads need it : thumbsup:

Gotta have a GoPro recording it while it happens or it's useless drivel.
That's it! We need a useless drivel thread!

Looks like fun! Nice job on the photos.
I tried my hand at shooting some video of trail riding out here in the mountains last weekend and put it up on youtube. Now I see why most trail riding vids on Youtube look so boring. 170 degree angle lens makes a basketball sized rocks look like a marbles and challenging uphills look like something a kid in a barbie jeep cold climb.
And that's the story I'm sticking to.

Yeah, getting good depth of field is difficult too.
