sammyseaman: We were going to cancel our cable last year but the wife got talked into free phone and HBO for 6 months. Well after 6 months the phone bill was added but not HBO  . Cool.... except we don't really watch anything on HBO. Boardwalk Empire is good but, well, I'm not much into it. The wife has her shows that she watches: Next Top Chef, Desperate Housewives (gone, thank god), random craptacular Lifetime movie, etc... I only watch Top Gear and the History channel when there's actual history programming on which is almost never. Together me and the wifey watch Redwings hockey, Tigers baseball and Madmen. With HD cable, phone and highspeed internet the monthly bill was pushing $150  So I just called and cancelled all of it except the internet which I was going to cancel but they, of course offered a good 6 month deal that matches what I'd pay with U-Verse. We have Roku so we can stream movies and a lot of tv shows now, if'n we want. Eventually I'll buy a digital antenna to watch local sports. IMHO television is mostly full of crap programming and I-AM-OUT! It feels good dropping $100 a month for something we don't need or use that much  |

Giaka: We are down to internet only. Its pretty amazing what you can watch over the XBOX now via the internet. Also a good HD outside antenna will bring in upwards of 60 channels in my area. Cable TV is just not needed. We are down to just cell phones and a fiber optic ISP. The savings are pretty substantial. :bigok: |

If we want to see something that isn't on Netflix, we rent it from iTunes. That's it and that's enough. |

1moreroad: We've never paid for cable. Internet and land line are just under $100/mo. I called AT&T yesterday and found out that I only needed to call to get my bill reduced $15/mo. Apparently their price structure got cheaper, but I had to ask for the new rates. We pay $9/mo for Netflix and I bought an antenna setup (with amp, etc.) for about $200 4.5 years ago. We get 9 channels where we live. |
