Well, Wednesday before last I was heading to Las Vegas from C Springs to visit my parents.  I knew the back tire was getting close, but I thought I could make it and have it changed in Vegas.  My first gas stop was in Vail where I checked the tire and could see a little cord.  I aborted the trip, called the wife, and road back to the Springs.  Straight to the shop I went and as you can see the Road Attack was at the end of its useful life.  I ended up driving and just got my bike back yesterday wearing PR3s.

A little duct tape and you probably could have made it.

Protip: If you find yourself saying "I think it'll make it", it won't. While tires aren't always "cheap", they're cheap insurance and cheaper than on the road.

I'm amazed so many of us - myself included - end up doing it the hard way.

this is my hammer. my dad gave it to me. he got it from his dad who got it from his before him. it's been in the family for generations. we've had to replace the handle a few times and the head twice but it priceless because of its family history.
