I had to post this. I have a 2011 concours 14 abs. I love the bike, but it seemed to be lacking power down low. I installed a Vance and Hines cs1 and kn air filter. The best thing I did was send my ecu to Joe at dynotronics in Texas. He does a complete remap which changes timing and fuel/air for your set up. The secondary flies stay in, as he said the Kawasaki engineers put them in for a reason, to length the intake runners. The remap does open the flies a whole lot quicker. The traction control works just like it should, which does get affected when removing the flies. I do not have access to a dyno. The seat of the pants test ride was a WOW! The front tire snapped off the ground under moderate throttle in 2ND gear. The lack of low end power is gone. The throttle response is amazing. I can not say enough about the remap and how helpful Joe was. Well worth the 350.00 over using a power commander.   Inlove

Funny, my traction control works as it should.

The traction control issue came from a Kawi tech and service rep. I took there word for it as they should know.

You actually think the C14 - in ANY configuration - doesn't have enough power?

this is my hammer. my dad gave it to me. he got it from his dad who got it from his before him. it's been in the family for generations. we've had to replace the handle a few times and the head twice but it priceless because of its family history.

I have to agree. My 09 C14 feels under powered especially down low. But then again my last bike was an 08 Busa  with 195 RWHP.

It is rather lacking way down low in stock form.  Especially 2-up.

When stock yes, now it runs like it should from the factory. When two up it lacked, now it pulls your arms out!  Lol

Buddy of mine thought the same of his ZX14 so he had his friend at http://www.atpturbo.com/ help him put a turbo on it.

300ish rwhp... now he's working on a special forumla for tires that last forever.

Hoping to see Kawasaki install the ZX14r engine in the C-14 in the near future.  It would be senseless to have two different sized engines with the same block and two different CC's.  They will certainly de-tune it, but if it gets 165-175 HP, it will be the ultimate Sport Touring bike in the power department.

Add another center tank glove box like on the 2008 would be helpful too.

What do you guys think about a larger 14r engine for a bit more HP and torque to make the C-14 better and sell more units?

I don't see it happening considering how neutered the low end of the stock C14 is.

In order to boost future sales, they need to offer the public something....an extra 40-50 HP would be a nice incentive for prople to buy...lets the old guys trade in their smaller engine C-14's and upgrade.

The New ZX14r is selling like hotcakes everywhere......only because it puts out about 195 HP stock, all the guys who have the older ZX14's are selling and trying to move up to the 2012 unit...speed and power sells and creates incentive to buy newer more advanced products..

After all...what is Kawasaki going to put in the 2013 C-14 that is not in it now...other than to change the colors????

A C14 that gets 20 mpg and has a five gallon tank. Ain't gonna happen. You need to just buy a zx14 already.
