This bike is a home run for Honda. Now if only it had about 3x the horspower
A good lighweight turbo would make it wail...
The Team that brought the 250 to market should get a bonus.
The Team responsible for the 1200 should get the shaft...

Congrats.
Was wondering, wouldn't you actually have saved more money by riding the bike you already owned before the CBR250? Just saying.
If math was the only factor in your purchase then it's not an economically viable purchase. However, I suspect you have a personal agenda for buying that bike--ie. you just want a new toy.

Congrats to the OP for the new bike - reasonable or not - looks like fun, and I'm jealous.

I sold the FJR almost two years ago because I wasn't riding it anymore. It took 40 minutes on the highway to get to work and it wasn't enjoyable. Now that I have a new job that is closer and is almost all two lane roads, I will ride it to work.

I've seen lots of CBR250s around. The seem really popular. Just yesterday I saw 2-3 out and about. One of my co-workers who works in the Portland area is also buying one as a first bike (or he's getting back in to riding, can't recall).
In the ~2 years since the VFR1200 has been out...I've seen 1.

The dealership I purchased mine from sells about one a week, so it was really hard getting them to come down on the price.

I see. I didn't know that.
I do see a lot of CBR250's and Ninja 250R's around here in SoCal. You don't need anything more than that unless you're hitting the wide open roads where excess power is nice to have.

I did the math and I figured a 150$ rain suit was cheaper then my 20,000$ car. So I sold the car and bought the rain suit.

My "math" is that the bike and the Jeep are both paid off and I'm not getting rid of either. It's $30 a week savings to ride the bike vs the Jeep with cheaper gas. The difference climbs quickly as gas prices go up. I need to massage the numbers to get a new bike at some point (after the girl gets out of daycare) but this works for now.
The little CBR sure looks like it would be a fun little bike for commuting. Might as well have some fun if you have to go anyway.

So does that mean you're changing your name to CBR250 now instead of FJR1300?
Mods, some assistance with that please??
Good luck with the new scoot. I wouldn't mind a 250 myself vs. this 1000cc pig I'm commuting on now.

I've only sat on the 250. To me it seems really comfortable and the size is just about right. I'd rather have it over the 1200.
Now, I know our dealer has sold a couple 1200s. I've never seen them on the road. I pass up about four 250s on my way to work in the morning and see a few more on weekends.

Congrats on knowing how to do math. My California public skooling is kinda lacking in that department.
Those 250's are good for what they are. I'm glad the Ninja 250 is now not the only one on the road (that I can think of). I had no idea Honda had this little CBR, haven't seen one yet. Austin is full of hipsters and their againg cafe style bikes. That and scooters like the Ruckus. They're everywhere. And a few old people on Bergman's.
My justification for getting a bike was if purchasing would put me out on the street. It didn't. Now my truck just sits in the garage 6 days a week. I drove the truck today for the first time in about 9 days.
My beemer is averaging about 42mpg, 80% of that open roads/highway. Can't complain.

It gets better as it breaks in too. A lot! I'm averaging 77mpg (US) and not taking it easy on it. Most of the mileage is just bombing around town.

I just had my dealer do a valve check (supposed to be done at 1000km (600mi). I was a little overdue (5300km!).
No adjustment required.
