Something interesting on Fuelly.  Their are more CBR250R's after just 1 full year of production than Ninja 250's after nearly a century of production.

I did the math and I figured a 150$ rain suit was cheaper then my 20,000$ car. So I sold the car and bought the rain suit.

I did the math and got a new car and saved over $2000 annually.....   Bigsmile

Paid for Dodge Truck yearly fuel cost $9,528.00 for commuting
New Fiesta yearly fuel cost $3366 + 12 payments = $5526 + $600 for insurance = $6126

I did the math on my car before gas prices went above $3.  I've been saving money for over 5 years now, and putting that money into investments Bigsmile

(that investment money has manifested itself into motorcycles, naturally)

Whenever I've tried to calculate any sort of savings due to motorcycle ownership it always ends in a loss. The problem comes when you add the miles you put on the bike that aren't necessary. If you bought the CBR250 for your commute, and those the only miles you put on it along with running errands you would do anyway - no long way home, joy rides etc - then yes, financially it makes sense. All you should be deducting is depreciation, interest, gas/tires/oil - deducting your monthly payment makes no sense because you are retaining resale value.

I save zero money. It now takes me 50 miles to go to the grocery store, when it's 3 if I take the truck. I don't drive 100 miles for a sandwich in the truck, but I do on the bike. I don't fill up the tank on the truck and drive it til it's empty with no destination in mind, but I do on the bike.

I work from home 99% of the time so I really have no commute. My van is used pretty much solely for hauling my band gear around, less than 4000 miles since last October, where the bike has 9500 on it in that same period, almost all of which is joy riding.

I filled up yesterday and when I did the math I got 69.5 miles per gallon this past week commuting to work.

I really like this bike.

Check out my last 4 tanks on Fuelly.
