Hey Pennsylvanians,

I am planning a ride to Kennett Square from Toronto. I plan to run #44 from the NY border to its terminus near Allenwood Pa. Then I am in entirely new territory for me. I want to complete the journey in one day and am not totally against the occasional bit of slab, but would prefer a more 'STN' route through this area.

Any help is appreciated.

Ringing Garry

Pa has lots of great roads, usually w/ low LEO presence.

Ask peeps here about road conditions, like most of USA we need lots O $$ put into infrastructure - But Rt. 144 (Renovo)

Also, Rt. 125 from Shamokin

I'd stay more west. If you want to take 44, get off where it meets up with Rt 15 near the Susquehannah River. You can follow 15 down along the river towards Harrisburg, and then pick up 441 south of Harrisburg and then wind your way across towards Kennett via the back roads in that area, which can be real nice. That whole 476 corridor is pretty densely populated and coming down that way into the Philly area isn't a great ride. Lots of traffic.

Rt 219 coming out of Buffalo is pretty nice too. When my wife and I rode to Niagara Falls, that was the route we took home. It goes all the way thru PA. We picked up I-80 to head east from there, and then down thru Harrisburg/Lancaster back roads to get home.

Pick up 897 as soon as you can and take that as far as you can, meander over toward Coatesville and pick up 82. You can stay on 82 all the way to Kennett. It's quite a pretty ride.

Per Danz's suggestion, you could stick a little further West and take 372 through Quarryville and across the water, get on 896 South to just South of Rt. 1 and take some of the nicer country roads East to 82 into Kennett.

Personally, I'd get on 82 just immediately South of Coatesville. It's a pretty ride.

There's not a lot that's terribly technical in what I've described, but 897 and 82 North and West of Kennett makes for some pretty riding.

Stay on Rt. 82 a ways past and to the South of Kennett Square into Delaware. It's about 6 miles and well worth the doubling back. It's Delaware's only twisty road and is very enjoyable.

this is my hammer. my dad gave it to me. he got it from his dad who got it from his before him. it's been in the family for generations. we've had to replace the handle a few times and the head twice but it priceless because of its family history.

Alex, good route. I was going to suggest 2044 but can't believe I overlooked 125.

I'll mail my man card in post haste.

Wow!! Quick response and exactly what I was after! Thumbsup

If you want to take 44, get off where it meets up with Rt 15 near the Susquehannah River. That was where I thought it ended.

I just rode 219 from WVA to the Cdn border. Lots of variety and an effecient route home for me!!

Rincewind,That map looks like the route I will take, especially seeing as contrary to all things STN we seem to have a consensus Cool
