Yeah, this is a bit of an off-shoot from the unmarked Camaro thread. Just as I didn't know that there's unmarked speed enforcement running around in Utah, I also didn't know the cars also include a printer. My ticket was printed out all legible like on a nice 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper...

Just wondering if any others have received their tickets in this form. New to me... Shrug

Cuts back on the illegible handwriting errors that you can contest in court and perhaps get off the hook.

But the upside is that as soon as they stop bothering to carry old style ticket books as backups, you'll get, "I'm going to let you off with a warning (because my printer is [ out of paper | out of toner | not powering up | other ]) this time....  Smile

It's mainly because court systems are going "paperless"...once the ticket is "written" and the offender is given their copy, the court copy is downloaded from the mobile unit automatically without the officer having to physically carry paper copies to the court.

Yup.  And yet, they can still get "lost"...if you know the right people

The trick is to have your people contact the issuing officer before it downloads at the end of shift...at least here in AL, he/she can delete the ticket from the MDT before it sends them to the court.

It's additional efficiency at getting your revenue $$ to them as quickly as possible.  Pretty soon they'll just do a direct debit against your bank account.  This is not a joke.

All this effort to improve efficiency at ticket generation yet the DMV is still run like it was fueled by Mollasses!

Maybe eventually, you'll be able to "Like  Thumbsup" your ticket on the LEO's Facebook page to acknowledge that you received it.

Cheetah M27.  Keep it enabled, then, when lit up, slow down and turn it off.  No more tickets with laser.  For the other bands, get a Passport 8800 or better.

Sure, it's expensive as hell for this whole setup, but, ask yourself, how much do you end up paying for added insurance costs, driving points, court costs, performance awards, etc.?

Escort also sells the LIDAR "confuser" that mounts in front of bikes or license plate frames.

In the near future your factory equipped hard wired GPS will simply download and report exceeding the speed limit information to the nearest appropriate LEO organization thereby triggering a computer generated ticket which will automatically debit your banking account and email you of the loss of funds and the concurrent raise in your insurance rates also automatically deducted, maybe with a consumer friendly smiley face for public relations. Think thats BS??? Five years from now we can meet at your or my favorite bar and the loser is buying.

During my 50cc I was issued a printed warning in Texas. That was 3+ years ago.

Up here even the motor officers and the meter maids have them.
Very efficient for parking tickets, they can issue ten times more per hour.

Same here, we were heading back one night to my father-in-laws house in Monahans from Midland on I-20 back when Texas still had the stupid day/night speed limits (80/65) which they got rid of in the last couple of years. It is pretty much and electronic ticket book kind of similar in size and shape to the ones that rental car agencies use with a built-in printer.

Well, I have a little one but it's only effective when in close proximity to the computer (like in the cop car; and if you're that close, an EMP won't help Smile ). Plus I need to shield the bike Smile

Carl

Edit: although, if he's carrying it like a portable device, it would work. Hmmm Bigsmile

DPS in Texas uses them, wish our agency did too. I hand wrote two citations yesterday, it didn't kill me. The best part is stopping speeders then taking your time to write the ticket. I know if I ever get stopped for speeding I'd hope for a warning but if a citation comes from it it would be printed and I'd be on my way in a jiff instead of waiting for the ham-fisted, public schooled cop to write it all out.

If you can't see the sarcasm in my words...  Rolleyes

When you receive a ticket in the mail take it to court and demand to meet your accuser. Photo cameras won't ever show up. I believe red light cameras and such are illegal. The problem is they're installed because so many people run red lights.
