Time for your summer nap.
My beloved Sidi On Roads get worn, used and abused and have been the best footwear I've ever owned bar none.
And by the time summer rolls around they're lookin' pretty ratty.
The temp here broke 90f two days straight, so tonight I lovingly cleaned, touched up scuffs, polished and Sno-Sealed the On Roads to prepare them for a well deserved rest. They'll be ready for action again the first cold snap in November.
Out come the TCX Air-Tech mesh boots.

I have a pair of On-Roads. They are an excellent comfy, totally waterproof boot.
However the velcro on straps went to the sh*ts in two seasons.
Not happy about that. Otherwise, they are great boots.

I love my on-roads . . . . .
After the second trip to the cobbler, I got a tube of Barge Cement, and can now reattach the velcro at my convenince.
Highly recommend stuff for a variety of uses.

Link?? More info?? Tanks.
need something like that. Mine are really shot and I've got a good pair of boots collecting dust while my CBTL's are taking a daily beating.
My CBTLS's are going to be shot in another year if they continue getting hard daily use like they are.

Love mine too !
7 years and I have worn them through monsoons and never a leak. Like yours, they clean up well and have many years left in them. I will buy another pair when these are gone. Never had the velcro problem.

Danke.
I have some Gorilla Glue at home, I think maybe I'll try that for shits + giggles first.
Never heard of Barge cement. Shoemaker's specialty glue it appears.

Barge Cement differs from most glues in that it stays flexilble for a long far -- gorrilla glue? I have some, but only used it on wood. It MAY stay flexible, but Barge does.
Some Contact Cements (Duco) stay semi-flexible, but do not work as well in this application, IMO, as Barge Cement.
Seam Grip may also work in this application, but I've not tried it.
They can have my on roads when they pry them from my . . . . . .

Hmm you might be right about that. I'm thinking the GG does indeed dry up pretty stiff. Might not be a good idea after all to use that on those straps.

Agreed!!! I may not be loyal when it comes to motorcycle brands but I love my Sidi's.
Sidi On Roads are my goto boot. My 2nd set of On Roads is getting a bit long in the tooth but I think they will last through this year.
Siidi track boots only get worn for the occasional track day and the rare day I'm feeling froggy enough to don the body bag for a street ride.
Sidi Crossfires for trail riding / off-road.
Yeah... I'm a Sidi fanboy.

I'm curious. I got my On Roads in mid 2009 which may have been the first year for Gore-Tex. Which generation On Road are you having velcro issues with?

I have the same boots and love them but IDK about applying water proofing snow seal to them. The Goretex already makes them water proof and snow seal blocks the Goretex's ability to expel moisture and breath.

I'm thinkin' leather conditioning. I have treated the boots every summer for 3 years and breathability has not suffered. I don't believe sno-seal is capable of making boots air tight.

Love my On Roads- just retired my first set this week after being my first pair of motorcycle boots ever. The straps had to be replaced a few times by a cobbler, but it was the eventual wear of the shift pad that did them in.
Replaced with a set of Sidi Cobras.

Mine were the previous generation (with Sympatex {sp?}) . . . . .. still going stong, though getting soft and comfie enough that they are more like favorite slippers than protective gear ;-}

This is the primary reason I replaced mine. They get so dang comfy and soft they make great everyday wear, but the flexibility also means they are not as protective. Broke my foot in my old pair and I'm pretty certain it wouldn't have happened had they not been so well broken in.

Not sure which generation but mine are the Sympatex as well. I think I bought mine in late 2008/early 2009. 2 riding seasons and the Velcro is shot.
