Wow...I didn't expect any of negative stuff on the FJR!   Smile  I just wanted to find another Utah rider and see if anyone had any recommendations for riding in Montana  Bigok .  Would I be better off avoiding the eastern side of the state?  I hear it is mostly just rolling plains and there is not much to see...

BTW, I really like the bike and have no desire to trade for anything else.  It is fast, it has gobs of power, it handles well and, with the Sargeant seat and California Scientific windshield is very comfortable.

Just for the record,

The FJR has been made into "the elephant in the room" by one member in particular.

There is one senile old bastard on here this forum that has one with over 200,00 miles on it.

It is on a short list for my next bike. I want something that my wife can join me in my adventures on as the Bandit hurts her old woman hips.

You must be kidding about the east side and "plains". There is a reason that there are many National parks and National Monuments over here.

Welcome to the madhouse  Bigok

...and see if anyone had any recommendations for riding in Montana  Bigok .  Would I be better off avoiding the eastern side of the state?  I hear it is mostly just rolling plains and there is not much to see...

I'd say that this is pretty typical for the southeastern corner of the state:

FYI, you might want to check out this trip, as I took quite a few roads through Montana and you might be able to glean some ideas from what's good vs what's "ok".

FWIW, I really enjoy the scenery from 78 out of Red Lodge. Mind you, I was southbound at the time, so I had a great view of the Absoroka mountains  Inlove

And Flathead lake was pretty to look at. And the "secret gem" of Koocanusa Lake" can be fun. West side = twisty, east side = high speed runs.

Nice photos! Even the East looks very inviting. Thumbsup

Thanks for the info!  That was the kind of information I was hoping for.  Smile  I already had Beartooth highway, but now I have added Koocanusa Lake to my route.
