If you're living your Moto GP fantasy on a public highway (as opposed to the track) and you wad your bike and maim or kill yourself, it's on you! Period. In over two decades of trauma nursing the standing joke was that our next patient was going to be some young male that is surrounded by his buddies and says "hold my beer and watch this". Different application, same principle.

On this photog's Memorial Weekend 2012 video, at around 2:20, you see a guy coming around on a motard, in the foot-out position around the corner.
I realize that dirt guys do it differently, but shouldn't someone tell him this is asphalt, and to not do that? Seems like a good way to snap a tibia/fibia.
Or do I have it wrong, and for some reason, it's the best to do so?

I'm just wondering why so many more sport bikes are crashing on this corner than cruisers? And I see lots of cruisers up there.
It doesn't make sense to me cuz we all know the average dood on a sport bike is a much better rider than the average dood on a Harley.

Saw a guy on a HD dresser do that today. He was getting onto the ramp to get on the highway. It was a slow 90 degree turn with lots of room everywhere and he was crawling by any standard. His left foot was out and forward as if he was on a CR250 about to hit a high berm in a super cross race. Only reason it really got my attention is that I seriously thought he was in the process of crashing in the split second when I recognized him in my periphery. My heart raced expecting to witness a crash before I realized that it was, for some inconceivable reason, intentional. Got me.

Complete nonsense.
Even if the presence of a camera encourages people to act like morons, which it often does, people are still responsible for the actions they willingly decide to take. People, can we atleast pretend like there's a semblance of accountability in this world?
There's a popular road in my town full of curves that attracts people who want to push their limits. I've seen plenty of offs without the presence of any cameras, and if they started to start photographing the antics, crashes may increase. But the cameras aren't the problem. If all it takes is a camera to push past your comfort zone, a 170 hp superbike probably shouldn't be your ride of choice.
And the majority of bikes going through there make it through without incident.

I"m thinking that this highway must be something like the Dragon out east here.....
Like a "lightbulb is too a moth" it is a "beacon for all of human stupidity to ride motorbikes they have no business being up in the twisties on" to try to ride "fast and furious".
I've riden the Dragon a few times....I got tired of passing the "Grinding Pirates", tired of getting run over by the squids and tired of all of the speed traps the wrecks and human stupidity brings.
Fortunatley most of the real Grade A certified assholes tend to stay on the Dragon leaving the other 5 thousand miles of great roads in the area open for the rest of us.
I'd think that if Mullhullan Highway does the same for Ya"ll you should help them advertise it.....

I think there should be an ST.net "expedition" to ride this highway soon just so we can expose the truth about this so-called snake.

Great idea. Be sure to bring cameras and a CHP cruiser.

Audi Douchebag Spyder.
Weird, they don't have anything on their website about a Douchebag model
To be more specific, it's the Audi E-Tron Spyder. A hybrid version of the R-8 Spyder.

I don't agree. The crashes happen because drivers/riders exceed their limits. No one forces them to ride faster than their skills allow. Unless the guy is actually jumping in front of riders causing crashes by making them swerve I would have to say the fault is primarily on the operators of the vehicles.
If the argument is that he distracts riders then I'd have to say that maybe the riders who get distracted that easily shouldn't be riding.
If a guy with a camera distracts you enough to crash what would happen if an 18 wheeler is heading the other way?
If riders are showing off for the camera, they are using poor judgement, again an issue with the nut that holds the handlebars, not with the cameraman.
I actually find some of the videos instructional. Good examples of what not do do on the road. Most of these guys are riding so close to their limit (be it the limit of their skill or the limit of the machine) that you'd think it's just a matter of time until the do crash.

Something just dawned on me, If a cameraman on that infamous corner is causing crashes imagine the impact the GoPro Hero cameras are going to have worldwide once everyone gets one!! Everyone will have one and then watchout, it will not only be on Mulholland Drive it will be everywhere...
