Good or bad?

Good for obvious reasons but bad for exclusivity? Seeing a Ducati on the road is like seeing a Ferrari as is owning one. If they are everywhere will that be bad?

GTS_Rider:
Yeah, the MTS1200 is not feeling real exclusive these days. I pulled into the first available spot at Miller last week and only noticed after the fact what I had parked next to. Three other Multis (Mine's the black one with gear cablelocked and draping over the seat) including two PikesPeak versions which are extra dosh over an already moto-budget straining price to start with. On the way out on Monday happened to pull up next to two other MTS riders which looked to be a couple from AZ with his and her's Multistradas, one Red, one white. I completed the full range of initially available colors as I pulled up next to them briefly...   :bigok:

Nah, they'll just raise the prices to keep the margins/profitability fat and keep the brand a little bit more exclusive.

Also, I don't think their sales increase really makes a dent on the exclusivity.  Motorcycles are a very small percent of the vehicles on the road, and Ducati has a small piece of the motorcycle market.  I don't think those who buy Ducatis necessarily think about the exclusivity as much as the design and performance part of the brand.  If you're looking for exclusivity, there are many other sporty brands that offer it.

Yeah, buying a Ducati wasn't even in longest version of long range radar for me until they announced the MTS1200 and I plunked down my deposit 6+ months before the first reviews. They just hit all my buttons of exactly what I wanted with this bike. Basically for me it's just a V-Strom 1k on a weight diet with massive upgrades in suspension and engine. For my type of riding and the roads I gravitate towards (bumby barely paved empty backroads), I still don't see anything on the horizon that can compare.

It's more and more evident that they hit that one out of the park as I see more and more of them on the road. Or at least a lot of people were looking for the same sort of compromise for a do it all sport-touring bike that I was. For sure, their timing to increase the major service intervals to 15k miles played a key part in my decision to buy.

Exclusivity not in my thoughts at all. In fact, I'm jazzed to see they've sold boat-loads of them. That means much more likely someone will introduce a bolt on super-charger or turbo kit...

I just saw a ten nine eight in my little oilfield/logging town of 10,000 people.

Not the usual bike for this neck of the woods.
