Hey All

Just throwing it out there, i know quite a few people are heading out our way this summer and I have some handy news. My friend and I have just set up our No-Mar tire changer and wheel balance. If anyone is heading out this way and needs a tire change let me know. I got a few race take offs kicking about but if you end up having to buy a set of tires for what ever reason and the shop cannot change over you tires quickly i can do it.
I know when summer hits, our only dealer here in Nelson get's very back logged and cannot do a tire swap straight away, also the fact that they close on Sundays when everyone is riding doesn't help.
I have only swapped out sport bike rims/tires so far with NO scratches to the rims, I got a set of Marchesini Magnesium rims so i am going to be super careful with those puppies.....

Plus any of the local boys on here, if you buy a set of cheap tires online it's handy to know you can pop over to us and get them mounted and balanced without having to pay a shop 65 and the wait time.

Hey, I appreciate the offer!

Had a friend in town a few years ago from California...she picked up a nail in her rear (tire! Wink ) and bought a new one from Kootenay S&W the next day...they skinned her alive on the cost!  Then, more recently, during one of the BBB events another rider (again from California) decided he needed a new front...we were able to get an emergency change done at Playmor Power on Saturday afternoon (but it was dicey, and they certainly couldn't match his front, he had to take what they happened to have in stock).

I change my own tires...either with a bucket and a set of irons, or I'll borrow a machine (I purchased a Coats manual, but used it once then sold it...I prefer the No-Mar, if I can find one to use Smile ).  I'd like to support the local shops, but when their wholesale cost is higher than what I pay retail online, it's hard for them to compete pricewise (I wouldn't mind paying a bit extra, but...twice the price?).

A great offer to be sure !

Be careful though, the FJR rally is in castlegar on the 21st with well over 120 bikes. Maybe just set up the machine at the super 8 in town with a stack of PR3's ....  Lol

Thanks for the offer. I may take you up on it. But it's still an hour or so from Kaslo to Nelson so I'd ultimately like to get my own tire changing setup too. What's in your system? What kind of balancer do you have and can you handle the rear wheel from a single-sided swingarm (VFR)?

I wonder if I could make money doing this in Kaslo. I got me plenty of storage space now. Hmmm.....

I am sure it will take a VFR wheel. I figure charging 30 bucks for a tire swap and balance is more than fair for people that need a swap in a jiffy. You might be on to something there right in Kaslo.

That's about what Mainjet charged me when I bring the wheels in off the bike. Might have been a bit more, I don't recall exactly because my wife brought them in for me last time.

I've got a buddy here in town, retired a few years ago. He's my go to guy for changing tires. Bring your bike in, he's got a lift and fully equipped garage along with a tire changer. $50 and you get your hands dirty with him, front and back.

He's averaging about 2 or 3 sets a week. Keeps him in beer money!

The dealers, if you bring your bike in, count on about $200. Just rims, about $75.

Last year, but that's per wheel. Might have been 40 bucks.

for now just PM me, i get a notifications for PM's. I may buy a cheap pay as you go soon and put up an ad in the local paper. My buddy and I figure $25 even for both tires changed and balance. This would be rims off though. Between us we have a few stands for both front and rear, if anyone cannot get their wheels off maybe we can help with that too.
