Friggin' moron got caught doing this, photographed, and now is on Car Talk's website.  Which means some high ranking official somewhere is going to see it, not to mention the bad publicity he's giving the Army.  And as a military rider, it's hard enough with all the constraints and mandatory extra training without people like this guy eventually causing more.  Someone pass this out, find out who the hell it is, and give him the punishment he deserves so at the very least, when the big wig calls down to find out who it is, his Commander can show that he dealt with it and he WON'T be doing this again.

But, he's a "Hero".

I'd beep and flip him off.  I do that to texting car drivers all the time and they have no idea why.

Unless the dipshit was in an area that forbids texting while driving/riding or his base commander has a no texting while driving/riding command, his commanding officer cannot give him an Article 15. UCMJ, know it, love it.  Wink

He could get a article 134 just because and unbecoming a NCO or SNCO.  I am sure he will get the big green winnie.

So what.  Not everyone must be punished.
That's the problem.  In the army, frequently enough, everyone IS punished for the stupidity of the few.  Hell, i've already seen this picture reposted on facebook from non motorcycle riding friends so i know i'm doomed anyway.  I just can't believe the stupidity of this guy.  And for the next few weeks, i have to wonder about what will happen to me now as a military rider.

Alexi

Ps - just found out while inprocessing my new post that i have 30 days after signing in to take the erc.  As part of inprocessing this post, as a motorcycle rider, they require you to sign up for and take the erc.  Despite the fact i just took it at my old post in May (1 month ago).  Another example of how things were bad enough with motorcyclists at this post that more policies were piled on to afffect everyone, regardless of the few that may have been the problem.  And now a picture caught and submitted to a fairly widely known npr program which i know has some military followers.

Oh,  and personally, it's not so much that he was texting that bothers me.  It's his life.  It's the fact that he did this while in uniform and is going to put a bad spin on soldiers.  Well, pictures getting big enough that i'm sure someone will get to him.  Much like that marine that was kicked out for badmouthing the president on facebook.  Just so dumb of him to do this stuff in uniform.

Assuming you are enlisted you might be able to talk to the base SargentMajor or at least the ProvoMarshal and see if everyone has to take this class.  I know the answer will be no but it might make them aware that motorcyclist don't usually crash by themselves it is usually with an inattentive car driver.

Good luck,

You do have the right to speak with the base SgtMjr so use it.

First off, he's not wearing the gear prescribed by the military regs that I know, secondly, the unsafe act of riding with no hands. I foresee a big smack down coming for him.  Deservedly.

That's his wife's bike. All those pretty purple lights and seat decorations.

He's prolly texting his base SgtMjr after just completing the safety course to let him know of such.
