Throttle return on Gen II FJR
«

I have a Triumph Tiger 1050 and a 2007 FJR1300A. The throttle return on both bikes is significantly different.
The Tiger throttle snaps back when released.
The FJR rolls back but a slower pace, but
does
closely completely.
I just pulled the FJR throttle apart at the bar and cleaned everything, and it does roll back a little easier but does not snap back like the Tiger.
Is this normal for the FJR?
Thanks in advance for your help.

No, it's not normal.
The throttle should snap closed. Maybe not mouse-trap
quick, but snap just the same.
Before assuming worse, try loosening the cable adjuster
near the grip. Too little slack may be causing the
throttle tube to bind.
If that doesn't fix it the cables may need lubed.

Some owners have found the return spring to be too heavy for their liking and have unwound it one turn to create a lighter throttle pull. If you haven't owned the bike from new it's possible the previous owner did this mod. Your description fits it perfectly. On my 07 the throttle snaps closed with authority.
Lots of threads on it over on the FJR forum. Along with directions on how to accomplish the mod there are some cautions. Also, it is reversable. Read more ..........
