That was one of my "wish" bikes from those days. 

I had a '98 Executive model for one year.  It's what hooked me on Triumphs.

Looks like the product of DNA merge of C14, FJR and a Sprint GT.
Actually not a bad combo.

That's a lot of plastic.  Almost looks like a gold wing in the front with those wide lower fairings...

Are the panniers the same as on the current Sprint GT?

They look like it.  Which is a good thing.  The GT panniers are big.  Even the missus will have a hard time filling them.....Naaaa.

I am a little worried.  it looks like a huge pig.  Not the styling, just the shear mass of it.  I am thinking ST1300 weight.  

but I am sure it will handle great once you get it moving

That should be Triumph's target as the R1200RT is claimed to be 580lbs without panniers.  The Tiger Explorer 1200 is 570lbs, also without bags.

I hope Triumph offers them in different colors than the BMW and the Honda..

As worst kept secrets go, Triumph’s new 1200 Trophy possibly deserves its own trophy.

But now it’s a hushed secret no more. It's official. It will be launched into the market in September of this year. This is also the time when we find out how much it will cost. Our estimations put the pricing around £14,000 for the entry-level Trophy, aimed at BMW's K1600GT which is £15,495.00 OTR.

The Trophy shares the engine with the Tiger Explorer, but sixth gear will will be at a higher ratio on the tourer. Service intervals have been set at 10,000 for minor and 20,000 for the major.

During the presentation Triumph revealed that they are aiming to sell only 2,500 of both models, globally in the first year.

We didn’t get the chance to ride the new bike at it’s unveiling in Austria today but we got to see it and listen to a presentation about its development, purpose and role within the market.

1200cc I3 vs the BMW K16 1600cc I6?

Looks like they went hunting for bear with a spear.

It had better be a lot cheaper than the BMW.

IMO this is the ugliest looking, by far, of all the sports-tankers.  K16, R12, C14, FJR, heck even St13 look more cohesively designed than this.
