Cheapest town to stay in along the norcal coast?

Hey Folks - I'll be riding down the coast from Crescent City to 36 in Fortuna on Saturday after picking up my new ride. Which town is the least expensive to stay in?

Actually, I'm gonna try to make to Fortuna - this place does not look too bad

I heard from a fellow ST-N'r that the six rivers motel is a dump.
He actually had a reservation there but after seeing the place in person he went over to the Comfort Inn. This was during a WCRM a couple of years ago.
On line you can get better rates for the Super 8 or Comfort INN which are adjacent to each other and within crawling distance of the Eel River Brewery.
Once I stayed in Garberville on the south end of main street in $50 motel. The shower looked so bad, I didn't use it; mildew city. "You get what you pay for ".

hmm .. then I will skip the dump, and go with the chains - and being close to the Brewery is a big plus
Thanks

+1 on Super 8 or any of the hotels in Motel Row off Hwy 101 in Fortuna. Steps away from the Eel River Brewery, a Dennys and a big gas station. Also, you're only a few miles from the western start of Hwy 36.

Yeah, that's my plan for the next day
- this is absolutely terrible that I will have to ride a bike back from Norcal
Oh the suffering I will face.

The Denny's closed a couple of years ago, the place is now a steak house. The Super8 is quite ok, nice staff, decent breakfast.

Good thing the Denny's was a pit. Hope the new place does well

Forecast for the next few days: really hot in the valleys and may be cool and foggy along the coast. Expect temperature differences of 60 degrees or more between the coast and valley, mountains and desert. Seriously, it could be overcast and low 50s at the coast while hitting 110 or more in the central valley and desert.

I stayed in the Comfort Inn in Fortuna for two nights last month, it was clean, comfy, reasonably priced and the Eel River Brewery has good food and delicious beer. I actually found it cheaper using my iPhone Expedia app sitting in the parking lot choosing between the Comfort Inn and the Super 8.

Yeap, it was brutal in the central Valley. Was about 55 and cloudy when I left Eureka. I wound up taking 299 instead of 36 - and by the time I got to Redding it was 105. Luckily the temp decreased quickly as I headed back up into the hills on 44 out of Redding. I guess it was a good test for the old airhead anyway to see how it did with high temps
.
BTW, I wound up staying at the Lamplight Motel in Eureka, which for the price of $55/night, was surprisingly clean and acceptable. Everything in Fortuna was booked due to a Rotary convention, but I did stop and eat at the Eel River brewery before heading back north to Eureka.

I was thinking about you on Saturday afternoon when I came home from
relatively
comfortable temps at Sears Point the Valley furnace. Glad you were able to bookend the valley with coastal and mountain climates.
