I would not be doing my public service if I didn't mention that Bobcaygeon, Ontario is having their 2nd Bike Fest and the numbers expected are hitting 14,000. Year one they got about 1,500.
It's not my thing but this town's CoC does an amazing job of putting together events that succeed. It doesn't hurt that the scenery and roads around 'caygeon are really nice - for southern Ontario.

Dood, interesting bike. Did you customize it yourself or was it all f#@ked up when you bought it?

Excellent. Thanks for the heads up, I will avoid the Bobcaygeon pirate fest. I suppose Flynn's and the 507 are also going to be inundated. Good weekend to head East.

Even though it might turn into a pirate fest .... I think it is a great idea to have more events motorcycle related .

Didn't/doesn't Bobcaygeon hold YSR 50 street races ? We always wanted to see these tiny Yamahas do their thing there.

I'm up for a lunch run, just not in Bobcaygeon during the Pirate Nationals.

Anybody want to meet up on the deck of the http://goo.gl/maps/ckr2 Whitfield Inn in Parry Sound? Followed by a little blast around some of the tastiest bits of the Muskoka (Route 7, BrackenRig road?)

I'd be up for that but not this weekend. People and their damned birthdays...Sad

I any of you do take leave of your senses and decide to visit Chaps 'N' Vests in 'Caygeon this weekend do be sure to stop and see John Sharrard at the Accellerated Technologies booth. I just found out he is a vendor there (not sure why) and he is a brilliant suspension (among other things) tech. If your looking to have shock or fork work done he's worth a look. I'm not affiliated with him in any way, I'm just a happy customer.

The word back was that bikes totalled 8,000. Short of their estimate but for only year two, excellent, considering the forecast was rain all day, but it held off until after 3 pm. There was a long line of sport bikes parked together on one stretch. HA's also showed and stuck to one location away from the center of town.
Me - I was just pulling out of town before things got going and stayed east for a few hundred km of putzing around Stoney Lake and Lakefield.

It's the input from the actual riding interests that will shape what it becomes in the future.  Kawarthas and Haliburton are really nice places to actually ride the roads so I'll be inquiring about how to incorporate that from a tourism perspective. The influence started with the one potato - two potato, park it and fraternize fans so that's where it's leaning unless the Chamber gets some good suggestions. They asked a few years ago about ideas to make the place more welcoming to motorcyclists to visit, explore and shop., eg. bike friendly parking. I don't think what they meant was a one day a year meet and greet.

Well the Timmie's already has a huge posing lot. What else could they need?  Lol I see what you're saying but, unfortunately, sport-tourers don't tend to do a lot of shoe shopping and the boaters usually have the restaurants filled to capacity. The cruiser crowd really is their target market.

Oh, I hear you alright. I go a little nuts parking my bike on a perfectly good riding day and sitting on my butt if I'm within eye sight of the bike. A successful bike fest for tourers would mean everyone was out on the roads, anywhere BUT in town. Not exactly what they are going for as a Chamber of Commerce representing their local businesses. I'm still pondering an angle though.

If "local business" includes the OPP detachments, hey it could be great for business!  Bigok

Sorry, I really should just shut up or move out of this province.  I have fond memories of the Buckhorn road.  Even with its' stupid detachment there in the middle of frickin nowhere.

Lol If you mean the one on the 507 then you're missing the fun.  Wink Fantino's legacy is alive and well - his former minions have taken to setting up radar ambushes at the end of their own driveway at that detatchment.
