Giovanni Castiglioni has confirmed that MV Agusta will be producing a 3-cylinder 800cc adventure road model.  Talk about following in Triumph's wake - first it was the 675 3-cylinder Brutale, and now it is a 800cc model that sure sounds a lot like a Tiger 800 though perhaps with more of a leaning toward a supermoto'esque styling.

Visordown Link referencing the story from moto.it.

Luca Barr, an Italian designer who I believe is unaffiliated with MV, has produced this design concept.  Source link.

Yeah, it looks cool, but still its MV.  Even if it becomes a smash hit for them,  they'll sell what, a couple hundred in the US?? Shrug

Keep in mind those pics are just someone's idea, not MV's.

This is the Street Triple competitor: the Brutale 675.

Here is an alternate idea on the Rivale - also just someone's idea and not an official drawing AFAIK.

Yes, and the Rivale doesn't look much different than the Brutale!  Both look like naked bikes.

Two related news stories:

1. MV announces a new Brutale 800.  So instead of going straight for the Tiger alternate, they are beating Triumph to the punch with a triple-cyl 800cc streetfighter.  http://www.motorcycledaily.com/2012/11/mv-agusta-introduces-new-brutale-800/

2. Official sketch of the new Rivale 800 shows a much more Hypermotard-oriented bike then Tiger-oriented - http://www.autoevolution.com/news/mv-agusta-shows-rivale-bike-sketch-51262.html

It looks like a very differently purposed engine to the Triumph 800 triple as well; much more in the lines of an enlarged 675. Have to wait to see the torque curves, obviously, but first impressions are ... whee! 125hp, 60 lb ft of torque are the numbers I'm seeing.

Given than the Brutale is supposed to be under 400lbs dry, that's going to be a hell of a fun bike to ride. Licence losing fun. I want a Rivale, please, stat!

First factory photos released, showing a bike very similar to the Hypermotard, albeit with a triple.  Triumph take note!  123HP for goodness sakes - that's over 1.5x the power of the Hypermotard 796, and more than the 1100 Hyper as well.

I'd love to see one. I still think this might be my 'track whore' of a bike next year, if I can figure out the finances and actually find an MV Augusta dealer. I loved the triple in my Triumph, the styling appeals, the performance appeals, and I bet it'd be bloody unique.

That's a good looking motorcycle.  Definitely a copy of the Ducati, with the foldable bar end mirrors, but more powerful and really striking.

Beauty in the eye of the beholder.

I think it's uglier than the festering boil on the ass of the demon who shits out the evilest of sins in the fires of Hell.

That is one of the goddamnest butt-ugly motorcycles I've ever seen in my life. Truly freaking horrid.  Crazy Crazy
