Had two seperate tip over's in this past weekend's class.  One passed the exam later on, the other will have to come back for a reride.  Quite frankly I'm surprised that the one that passed did.  Old people really don't listen.

Here's my account of taking the MSF course for the first time.

http://www.matthewthompson.ca/mt/Blog/Entries/2009/9/12_Notes_on_getting_better.html

Quote from: Excerpt
When I hit the ground, my left foot was straight, and my right foot was on backwards. I can remember shimmying out from under the bike and looking down, thinking “that doesn’t look right at all”. So, I grabbed it and flipped it over to make it right again.

That’s when it started to hurt a bit.

the above opinion is simply that of an average middle aged hick with one too many brain injuries... or, don't take it too serious.

No tip overs, but I did run over the instructor's foot with a Kawasaki 125.

Hey...he said, "When I say go....ease out the clutch and roll on the throttle...SLOWLY....."....I guess I didn't hear "GO" and he didn't get out of the way quickly enough....

I took my advanced course on base since government contractors were able to take advantage of the Army's program for free.  I did it because I wanted to be more familiar with my bike and I knew insurance would be a bit cheaper.  Unfortunately, I couldn't use any other bike but mine which was an '09 ZX-14.  The instructor just shook his head when I showed up.  But, as the course progressed (8am to 1pm), he realized I wasn't just another squid and passed with only one minor hiccup - that part where they tell you to make a continuous u-turn.  I never dropped the bike, but the '14 is a heavy beast and doesn't like going that slow.  I still managed to pass that part, but not without a few tries before.  Sure wish I had a bultaco or some other lightweight bike, but then I wouldn't have been able to get to know the '14 like I did.  Yes, I Devil's Advocate myself a lot.  8^)

I still think they ought to have a video camera aimed at BRC's nationwide as it would provide some awesome YouTube moments.   Bigsmile Lol

I took the BRC in May 1989. I think we only had two drops in our whole class, and they were on the figure-8 drill (eye contact, crossing traffic). Wasn't me, though. Wink

Been riding in one for or another for 17-18 years and never took the BRC, though often time consider taking it anyway (there's always something to be learned). I took plenty of spills on those dirtbikes of my youth though.  Bigsmile

I took my riders test for my endorsement on a Kawasaki KZ400. It was a ratted out old garage sale find (literally bought for nothing) that my brothers and I terrorized mercilessly out in the countryside.  Lol It was amusing to watch the guy on the sportbike and the one on the full dress Harley struggle with the test while my brothers and I zipped right through on the little KZ. Dodging trees at 40mph (on that KZ no less  EEK! ) made weaving through a few cones a breeze. The right tool for the job makes all the difference (not the off-road ventures, the test  Lol )

That little KZ convinced me, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that a cheap, lightweight, small displacement bike is not only ideal for learning on; they can be a heck of a lot of fun to boot.  Thumbsup

I'm pretty sure some people are not meant to ride.

Don't think you have enough data to draw a conclusion in this case.

I'm pretty sure everybody I know has dumped it a few times, or at least once.
