All those digital downloads, music, movies, eBooks...

Are worth nothing.

I have a couple hundred bucks in eBooks and a few grand in role playing game PDFs.

Are worth diddly squat in a divorce.

Per the financial disclosure paperwork, it's worth what you can sell it for. Since you can't resell them...

Not that the physical books, music, etc will get you all that much anyway.

Of course, books and records don't count for much, even collectors, if she steals them and sells them out from under you without your knowledge or consent. Too late, then. DAMHIK.

Aren't divorces great? That's why I am all for gay marriage, they deserve the right to enjoy this feature of american life as well.

hjaving gone through it myself and wateched a couple friends go through it I think the best thing is to just give it all to the bitch and move on. sell the house, cars, whatever you need to to pay off the debt, let her have whatever she wants and move on... it's only money you will make more Wink.
the only other real option is that you fight for a year, end up pissed and depressed and your lawyer gets everything..

Honestly, it was just a late night reflection on the difference between digital property and physical property. Publishers place too much value on eBooks and prevent the resale which turns digital property into valuless bits and bytes. Not a commentary on past, present, or future legal actions. Smile

I used to think that id lose 1/2 my pay in a divirce settlement.......

What I realized was the fact that in reality I'd get half of my pay BACK!

I've been thru 2 divorces. Both with kids. There was a period of time (3-4 years) that I was paying 2 child supports. To be honest; I've never really recovered financially from that. But it's all a ok now. They're both grown and successful on their own. That's all a Dad wants.  Bigok

I gave her all and there were/are two kids.  In most states child support is a formula of gross income, so no surprises.  Easy squeezy.  No arguments about who gets what, and no arguments about child support.  I was in my late 30. If you're older and have substantial retirement accounts, YMMV.
