Hi all,

My wife and I have been "planing" a ride starting next Monday through BC to the Island and back.  Taking a couple of weeks, and camping as much as possible.  Do I need to avoid the North Okanagen and Kootenys?  If so, how much longer?

Thanks for any help....

Just be careful. Heavy thunder showers have washed sand and gravel onto the roads.

As of yesterday, the weather  is dry and sunny, and forecast is the same for the next week at least!

Sounds good!

The news about the flooding and road damage is all I was referring to.

Now they're talking about 40 deg weather! I need mesh jackets now!

There is still some road damage here and there, but no closures that I know of...you may encounter some construction (and not all of it flood related...some is just good old-fashioned road maintenance).

The only place I know where a major highway is impacted is near Sicamous in the north Okanagan.

I did a good ride today, up to Lumby and back...Hwy 6 is in good condition, there is fresh asphalt being layed between Nakusp and New Denver, the weather was quite nice (actually, cooler than you might think...I got chilly at times).

Yesterday we rode from Lillooet to New Denver via the 6, I wore mesh from Lumby to New Denver very comfortably.  The road was in decent shape.

Today we rode from New Denver to Meadow Creek and back before heading north to Revelstoke & home.  The morning was absolutely gorgeous, the roads felt good (yes, you do have to watch for some damage - as always - but the National Parks were wayyyyyy worse....) and by the time we were on the Galena Bay Ferry I had stripped down to mesh again for the rest of the ride.

Both days were mostly in the high 20'sC and the temperature was in the low 30's for a part of each day.

'Bout same temperature on the sunny Slocan, downright hot out there.

Did a run to Kaslo and the Mountain King for a lunchtime burger.  Can safely say tourist season is upon us, a fair bit of traffic on the 31A but not enough to make me go home!  I haven't ridden the 31A in a few weeks and was surprised at the number of spots where bits of fallen bank had been shored with riprap.  We're all lucky the road is still there, I could see how close the Kaslo River had got to the road surface in a few places.

I was also surprised that there was no LEO presence today, lots of bikes out but mostly cruisers(maybe they don't speed Wink).

Had the Guzzi out for a nice long scoot yesterday, man I like riding that motorcycle, and  2 up on the Duc today for a lunch in Fernie today the Multi handles the 2 of us surprisingly well I was very pleased. Hot, here also the new Olympia jacket works well and vents adequately but the Ranger 2 pants have gotta go, I will need to find something with a little mesh.

Took a little video today. Hot it was.  I must say my RevIt Mistral pants are awesome. I wear em year round. And used RevIt gear is cheap on ADV ... These cost me $ 145. The Jacket $ 175. ... Waterproof, vent well and excellent protection.

Sound is awful. But video quality is quite good, especially for the price.

I don't know how you find those deals, when ever I look things are already sold or not my size. I'm at work from 6:00 am to 5:00pm 5 days a week and I find it hard tomake time to get things done as it is. Any way I am so impressed with my Olympia Jacket I ordered a pair of Olympia Air glide  3 pants $229.00 free shipping and 30 day money back guarantee,  I hope they work as well as your rev-it pants, I actually did dome research into these pants, time will tell

I've got the full Oly set, Dave. The pants, like the jacket, are fully vented mesh like the jacket and only allow soooo much of that Guzzi heat in. Lol
My full outfit also came with a totally waterproof liner pants that are also warm and windproof. Good gear. Thumbsup

I set up and save a search on ebay for the exact type of item I am looking for is posted. I usually check once a day.  From there it is just luck or not that I get it for my max price.
