On Saturday I am going to purchase a 2001 Bandit 1200 naked. It has 18000 miles and new tires. The seller is asking for $2700 dollars.

My question is how much should I try to get it for? I know people will say to look at kelley blue book and nada values, but I have always found these to be values to be unrealistic.

Thanks for any help

Depends on the bike's condition and how it was maintained and looked after. They're great, versatile bikes and $2.7K is pretty close for a very clean example. Ask about bad pistons and see what kind of response you get. A batch of 2001 and 2002 B12s left the factory with badly machined pistons resulting in very high oil consumption. Suzuki did a warranty fix in about '03 or '04 but I doubt they'd honor it this far down the road. If the work has been done and there are receipts to prove it, no worries. Go to Maximum Suzuki dot com for more specifics.

Seeing as this is posted in Beginner's Garage I'm going to ask, I this going to be your 1st motorcycle? If so, I'd suggest looking for something more suitable for a newbie. The Bandit is relatively docile for a big bike, but it is a big, heavy bike and is capable of alarming speeds, especially for a novice. A nice 650 twin might be a better bike.

Local dealer by me has a nice looking 2003 bandit with 12k on the odometer for 3500.  Maybe that'll help for comparison.

$3500 is far too high.
