Anyone here have one?  I sat on one at the dealer over the weekend (big mistake) and I'm in lust.

Looking for the good and the bad.

What's the gas mileage like? How's the wind blast, vibration?  Could you do multiple 400 mile days back to back to back?

The saddle bags look small, but I could live with that, how durable are they?

Don't test ride one, then you'll REALLY be in trouble. :-)

I have a 2007 950 SMR that I turned into an "SM-T like" bike via a custom seat, windscreen, top case, and soft luggage. My comments are based on 50K miles on the 950. I get about 40 MPG give or take a couple. With my windscreen, the wind hits my helmet, but stays off my body. Obviously this is subjective as it is based on body size. The bike vibrates (it's a twin after all), and would never be considered "smooth", but it's not an annoying vibration that puts body parts to sleep (YMMV). The bike has kind of a raw edge to it that I like. I have done 400 miles for 10 days in a row on it, and do 3-5 day trips on it regularly. Doesn't care for slab, but is huge fun in the twisties. I find that I have plenty of room with the 46L top case and Cortech "Sport" saddlebags. Can't comment on how the KTM bags hold up, but the Cortech ones are holding up fine.

Excellent bike if you're looking for a high quality easy to ride steed.  I have a Super Duke "T" and like Garry, added custom hard saddlebags to go with the spacious KTM tankbag.  I do trackdays, weekend mountain rides, around town errands, and tour on it and she does everything well.  Like any bike, KTM's have their quirks but nothing major.  Every part is well built with focus on performance and practicality down to the nuts and bolts.  The biggest quirk with the LC8 is the water pump seal that lasts 10-20k miles, some longer.  I believe it's on the list for periodic maintenance though and is definitely a DIY replacement.  Dealer networks can be a pain but it sounds like you have one close by.  There is also loads of information on forums for fixes and modifications.  I've put 25k miles on mine in the three years of ownership while the VFR has only gotten about half that since the SD showed up.  The SD's limited weather protection keeps me on the VFR more for the winter months but the SMT checks that box with it's full front fairing and windscreen.
